Shenneth Canegata was born in the Caribbean Island of Antigua but moved to St. Croix United States Virgin Islands at the age of 11.
She has a heart for worship. Her most treasured times are at the feet of Jesus, in His presence; He is the center of her ministry and because of this it is impossible not to feel Him near at the sound of her voice. It is easy to see her total surrender.
She lost her husband, David C. Canegata, III to the war in Iraq in January 2007 but has discovered, in spite of tragedy, that God is always in control and is determined to continue to worship and spread the gospel. Shenneth recognizing that God’s authority is absolute expressed her lack of understanding to Him and He took her to Romans 11:33-36 (NLT) "Oh, what a wonderful God we have! How great are His riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and his methods! For who can know what the Lord is thinking? Who knows enough to be His counselor? And who could ever give Him so much that He would have to pay it back? For everything comes from Him; everything exists by His power and is intended for His glory. To Him be glory evermore. Amen."
God has promised never to give her more than she can handle ... and she knows that SO SHE TRUSTS HIM IMPLICITLY. Shenneth has shared this scripture with her two children and expressed to them just how much they all still have to be thankful for. Though still going through the process of grieving, she is confident all will be well ... in the end. Her main concern is that our hearts are focused on doing our part to build HIS Kingdom for we serve an AWESOME God. The Lord is great and greatly to be praised. A friend recently asked, "Why do you do what you do and who do you do it for?" Shenneth's response was, "I do what I do to glorify my Father and to do my part in advancing the Kingdom here on earth (and a resounding "NO" ... they are not just pretty words). When all is said and done, it is only what we have done for Christ that will last. He has challenged us to go into ALL the world and preach the gospel, even to the ends of the earth. Our methods may differ but the expected result is always the same – to win souls for the Kingdom.
Shenneth is committed to spreading the undiluted, unpolluted gospel with clarity & sincerity to the world, to incite positive change, and to encourage others to "SEEK HIM, FIND HIM & KNOW HIM." She has found that music is a healing balm to the soul.
Her first CD "I Praise His Name" was released on April 17, 2002. She is a full-time music minister and has traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and the United States ministering in song. Her second CD "Stand and Live" was released on April 6, 2007. She is a Worship Leader at www.speakthewordministries.org in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. Her goal is to spread the gospel through music. She prays that this ministry in its simplicity will touch each heart and soul in a powerful way.
