I am here for Friends

About Me

I am a North Londener with a variety of interests ranging from the mundane to the downright odd. My music tastes span 60's, 70's and 80's pop-rock, through the baggy scene of the 90's up through the current english indie scene.I am a classic gaming fanatic, regularly putting in sessions on Captive, Dungeon Master, EOB, Nethack, XCom, Zork, Enemy Unknown etc. etc. I am an addict of the greatest web application ever devised: Kingdom of loathing

My Interests

Reading (I am a trashy fantasy and classic novels consumer, down to one a day when I have the time). Writing (I fancy myself as creative, yet to prove it to anyone though!). I am also a regular player and watcher of football and like a little bit of sneaky LRP on the side. I use the Atari ST emulator 'ST on X' to emulate a huge array of the 80's most groundbreaking games and have an almost complete collection; If you can't find something and you have tried everything else I may be able to help out. My rather more staid (possibly 'exactly as staid' is more appropriate) professional interests lie in the world of web innovation, search engine marketing and general web development.

I'd like to meet:

Jick and Skullhead,
Edward the Confessor,
Robin of Loxley,
The Black Prince,
Oliver Reed,
Oliver Reed -hic-,
The Super Furry Animals,
My mates that I've lost contact with.

Music:

Baggy, Indie, Classic Rock/Rock and Roll.
- Small Faces
- Ray (Get that plug in!)
- The Known Unknowns
- The Who
- The Kinks
- The Scene
- Lionrock
- The Killers
- Nick Cave
- Carlton Weatherman
- Lou Reed
- Blur
- Graham Coxon
- Gorillaz (Imagine,if that Damon fellow from Gorrilaz and Coxon got together they'd be great)
- Super Furry Animals
- Air/All those Air'alikes that sound like Moon Safari
- Actually I quite like Bluegrass, but that doesn't really fit anywhere

Movies:

Anything with an emotive twist. Big fish, Donnie Darko, Citizen Kane ... Bambi? :) I'm kind of cynical about anything thats not really OTT. Hence my geeky love of Anime and Kung-fu movies.
- The Ladykillers
- Arsenic and Old Lace
- Lake Placid
- Ladyhawke
- Baseketball
- Old Boy
- Kung Fu Hustle
- Labyrinthe

Television:

Dont like much drama or most cheap american import TV Again I consume quality documentaries without political agendas and I enjoy a car program or two.
- Dragonball Z
- Great Bublegum Crisis
- AquaTeam Hungerforce
- Samurai Jack
- Transformers (The original obviously)
- Top Gear
- Quincy (The only good crime show ever)
- Football (That's Soccer to y'all)Programs I hate are much more numerous, but I will justify some of my selections.
- Friends (I know I shouldn't speak ill of the career-dead but how that show ran for so many years, with barely a joke or a decent situation arising is beyond me. When a show has to have a monkey, a duck, a chicken and Phobe in it in order to get laughs, it should be switched off ...straightaway).
- CSI 'Insert name of town here' (Is anything more annoying than 'Horatio Kane' of CSI Miami's one character trait of 'taking off his sunglasses to appear more thoughtful' .. parat from the entire show format which seems to be based around bad lab montages, the worlds stupidest criminals and lots of cooincidental luck by the frustratingly ood looking investigative teams)
- Will and Grace (Yes, a gay guy and his fag-hag ... Thats it? That's the joke? Is this 1950 or something?)
- Seinfeld (I swear he has sold his soul to someone in order to have had the most popular sitcom in the world ... 'Most popular in the world with wanky journos' Sure.)
- Any and I mean ANY Quincy rip-off where someone boring cuts up someone dead. There is only one king a 'the most fascinating sphere of police work' and he makes three people sick and two faint in his opening credits...can any of the other so-called forensic experts operate on this kind of level? I think not)

Books:

Trash Fantasy,
Oscar Wilde,
Arthur Conan Doyle,
Any 'Choose your own adventure style kids book'

Heroes:

None.
People that I admire however:
- Jeff Minter, The Llama Master (Like Obi-wan Kenobi but real and Welsh)
