About Me
Clarence Bucaro is by no means an ordinary singer-songwriter. He was equally inspired by soul greats like Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone and the great American songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. The 24 year old from a small town in the heart of the Snow Belt in Northeastern Ohio's music blends soul, jazz, rock and folk with ease, uniqueness, and something extraordinarily modern.

Clarence began his musical career with his Burnside Records debut Sweet Corn. Shortly before recording the record, Clarence followed a dream he had to hike the 2,172-mile
Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. During this four-month spiritual journey through the Appalachian Mountains, Clarence did the writing for his CD Sweet Corn, which was recorded the day after his college graduation in 2002. Grammy-winning musician and songwriter Anders Osborne produced Sweet Corn, an album that showcased Clarence's promise both as a musician and songwriter, and earned acclaim from critics who compared him to artists like Norah Jones, Van Morrison, John Mayer and Townes Van Zandt.

After Sweet Corn's release in November of 2002, Clarence, having never toured before, took to the road in support of the album, playing high profile venues, and touring with the likes of the Blind Boys of Alabama, John Medeski of 'Medeski, Martin and Wood', Mavis Staples, Aaron Neville, the North Mississippi All-stars, the Subdudes, and Maria Muldaur. It was an exhausting and highly successful first year of touring which included 140 shows in the United States and a tour in Italy.

Clarence's busy tour schedule kept him visible and led Rounder Records to offer him a recording contract in the fall of 2003. Clarence went into the studio to record his first album for Rounder with producers Scott Billington and Anders Osborne, and an incredible cast of creative musicians. Musically, the second CD Sense of Light blended elements of jazz, pop and rock, and is fueled by Clarence's gentle, youthful singing, an assortment of hand percussion, and warm, breathy trumpets and saxophones. ************************************************************

The material Clarence wrote for Sense of Light carried themes of peace and seasonal change, Sense of Light is very much the portrait of a sentimental young songwriter praying for peace in a time of war and painting images of life, and love. ************************************************************

In the late spring of 2004 Clarence moved to New Orleans and took a break from the road and began to write new material and play with some of his heroes like Kirk Joseph (founder of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band). After writing over 40 songs within a three month period in New Orleans, Clarence recently moved to Los Angeles, California where he is beginning to record his next record.
