Fear Falls Burning - was launched in the winter of 2005 as an outlet for vidnaObmana’s fascination with lo-fi and post-rock music, and as a way to return to his roots in drone music, where he first began 23 years ago. By processing the sounds of his Les Paul guitars through a large and elaborately configured collection effects pedals, Fear Falls Burning produces improvisational music that is by turns meditative, rhythmic and occasionally thunderous. A typical performance begins with a simple, sustained guitar chord. This opening sound seeds the ground from which the entire piece is grown. As the looping and processing techniques are applied, the music evolves, dictating the direction of the performance. Organic variations and imperfections are spontaneously introduced, giving the performance a rich hue of unpredictability. Looped patterns of sound rise and fall, mutated by a succession of realtime treatments. This improvisational technique is the defining characteristic of Fear Falls Burning. Over the past 2 years Fear Falls Burning has manifest himself as a wilful and unique statement admits the ever expanding drone music genre with numerous limited and exclusive releases on both vinyl and compact disc and a highlight in collaborating with the epic ‘once we all walk through solid objects’ 5lp set on tonefloat and the ‘frenzy of the absolute’ cd/lp album on conspiracy records (expected for May 2008). From there on Fear Falls Burning will reclaim roots with touring and a new solo album to follow in 2009 on tonefloat. The manifest continues.
"From huge walls of sound to soft humming shimmery buzz, My Bloody Valentine-ish blown-out bliss to raga-like buzz, fear falls burning is a truly unique and surprisingly melodic take on doom and drone." - aQuarius recOrds
“This is surpremely blissful stuff, a journey through the lighter shades of drone with textured arrangements and layers of guitar sounds that drift in and out of soothing soundscapes and fuzzy constructs with strangely comforting results. Magnificent." Rock-A-Rolla - UK
"I've also been listening repeatedly to the guitar drones of Belgium's dronaholic solo artist Fear Falls Burning. This ominous brew comes in 'long' size only. Side one is like some post-punk band on a Gavin Bryars trip, while side two is bright and shiny post-Krautrock cyberdrone, twisted and cycling and always of the intense variety." - Julian Cope/May Drudion 07 - UK
