Kendall Prototype Robert, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 17, 1985, where he spent most of his life enjoying the wonderful music that was also born there. The youngest of 3 children, Prototype learned fast how to stand out among others. His love for words is a trait passed along from his mother, a poet, with a passion for expressing feelings through spoken word. After discovering his gift, his name was no question. I was given the name Prototype because there is no other like me. Im the mold that everyone else is made from. With a subject matter ranging from Revolutionary Music to the bigger than life persona of the East New Orleans Native, Prototype sets himself apart from all others.But is he really Hip Hop? "It's very seldom you come across another young cat with an indepth, thorough knowlege of real hip-hop."Whiz of Language Arts Ent. says of his labelmate. Ever since the ripe age of 11 years Prototype was drawn to rap music when others were outside playing. It was amazing how words can make you understand what someone was really feeling, by hearing it in the form of poetry you understand the full extent. After listening to others make the music he enjoyed for so long, in the sixth grade he decided to write a rap of his own. Soon finding that it was harder than he thought it would be, he stopped writing. Over time he continued playing around with his rap skills but only when freestyling. Music became just something to do when clowing around with the crew until one of his friends D.C. (Sideshow) suggested that they try to take the music more serious."Thats when it all started." Prototype and Sideshow formed an underground group called Ravage. They took their time studying established artist such as Nas, Eminem, 2pac, and B.I.G. Pro crafted his style around the use of intricate rhyme patterns and word play something almost unheard of in New Orleans homegrown music at the time. It wasnt until recording his first song with Mickey Barz that he realized not only could he actually do it but it was easy now. So he worked even harder to perfect his skills on the mic and built his life around his new found talent. He would go to school and battle other aspiring rap artist at lunch just to get his name around the school. Prototype became the talk of the school, but the talk wasnt worded to his likenesses. When they would speak on me it wasnt Prototype is nice, It was that cat that rap like he from New York tight. Thats when I got mad because my whole style is my own every time I get on a beat; I try to live up to my name. Im the first of my kind, last of my kind. Just because my music sounds like some shit you may not ordinarily hear from New Orleans doesnt mean Im trying to be something Im not.Destined to be named in the same breath as the greats of hip-hop before him Prototype vows to continue to work hard to perfect his flow until hes noticed as an artist who gives his listeners something unique to vibe off.
