Born on the 6th day of March 1985, New Orleans welcomed a young MC Ronnika (Nika) Porter Wilson into its infamous streets of the 9th ward where rap music was always in the airwaves. Coming from a background of musically inclined members of Nika’s family the gift couldn’t do anything but pass on to her. At age 4 was when Nika first discovered she could sing a note by taking a poem written on a decorative piece that hung on her great-grandmother’s wall, and turned it into a song. At the age of 8 was when those songs turned into up-tempo skits and be-bopping which Nika in turned merged them together and created her own style of flow.
At the age of 12 she was introduced to a local company in the 9th ward called Casino Record which turned into a short spaned experience that didn’t last very long but only to meet the future fathers who would develop her into what she is today. It began in the home of her grandmother’s house where she was introduced to a cat name Will through a cousin of hers. Nika was bragged on by her cousin to Will and he inturned asked her to "spitt something’’, and indeed Will was impressed and made her apart of his camp he had going on with his partner-n-crime Cedric and ex-partner Coon in the 9th ward under the name of Ghetto-Style-Hustler’s their first record company. Nika being the youngest and only female in the mist of a lot of male artist under Ghetto-Style Hustler’s she couldn’t do anything else but step her rap game up to be respected not just as a female artist but as a lyrical MC carrying the same weight as her fellow lable mates. This was her second home Ghetto Style Hustler’s until the age of 16, Nika brought the saddening news that she was leaving because of her new found faith with God and the so-called faith Christianity. A crushing blow to Will and the rest of the company, things changed drastically for Ghetto Style Hustlers in the future, due to unsolved circumstances Ghetto Style was no more and their now Princess and daughter left without any closure. Nika’s experienced with the Church was going swell at first, she had gotten back into rapping but instead of gansta rap it was christian rap which she found she was artiscic in as well. Along on her journey she met a lot of other gospel rap artists, like New Orleans own L.O.G for instance who also had left gansta rap alone and started rapping for God,and connected with Nika real well and took her into his camp he had going on at a Christian club called the LOVE CLUB. Things was lookin up for NIka until she made the best mistake in her life that would reunite her back with her people Will and Cedric 2 in a half years later. She met this so-called youth pastor cat who also was a gospel rapper seemingly a true person at heart but really a snake in th grass, connected with Nika from the jump when they met. There relationship became real tight and the duo started their rap thing together for about two years but things became real sour in the end which caused them to part ways and that’s what ended her so-called Christian walk but never forgetting her Maker. That’s when that memoriable call was made to her first teachers Will and Cedric and it was back on and poppin and Suthern Skrap Records were born. Even though Hurrcane Katrina put Suthern Skrap’s process of success in delay; the company is back up and running in GA now, and Nika’s back with a whole lot of shit to talk abot and say.
