About Miles

Like his namesake, legendary trumpeter Miles Davis, is one of music's most gifted, distinctive and dynamic artists. MILES has enjoyed a brilliant career spanning more than 25 years; electrifying audiences internationally in countries such as Australia, Burma, Columbia, England, France, Holland, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Peru, and Switzerland. He has also performed extensively throughout the continental United States and Hawaii.

Jaye; best known for his fiery, passionate vocals, turns the heat up even higher with his red hot electric violin stylings; further establishing him as one of the days most gifted musicians. While he is an accomplished, classically trained violinist, he is also highly proficient on a wide variety of other instruments such as piano, flute, saxophone, guitar, upright string bass and bass guitar.

A native New Yorker, Jaye was introduced to world travel during his five year stint in the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning to New York he established himself as one of the most sought after side men on the scene. After touring with jazz guitarist Eric Gale, songstress Phyllis Hyman and a world tour as the top cop in the pop group Village People; Jaye set out on his own.

As a writer, Miles has penned and recorded more than 40 original compositions and has the distinction of recording 12 different instruments on several of his critically acclaimed CDs. This classically-trained violinist has also produced seven chart-topping hits and enjoys a reputation as an R&B and Contemporary Jazz writer.

Signing with soul legend Teddy Pendergrass’ Top Priority Label under Island and Atlantic Records, Jaye’s debut CD MILES, is now a classic and can be regularly heard on classic soul stations around the world.

Over the course of his illustrious career, Jaye has had the distinction of performing, recording or sharing the stage with other celebrated artists such as Nancy Wilson, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, B.B. King, Grover Washington, Jr., Roy Ayers, Phyllis Hyman, Patti LaBelle, Roberta Flack, George Duke, Branford Marsalis, Najee, Kirk Whalum, Alex Bugnon, Rachelle Ferrell, Will Downing, Gerald LeVert, Vicki Winan, CeCe Winan, Phil Perry, Tony Terry and many more.

He has also begun what has become his newest labor of love; the Miles Jaye Jazz Café. In his own words, the Miles Jaye Jazz Café is a live performance setting where smooth jazz, smooth R&B and great people meet.
