Films and film- making; photography - I've only recently bought a digital camera and have found it to be a wonderful asset to my collection; books and reading; writing poetry and short stories; animals and animal welfare; mental health and issues around this;
Like minded people! People who have a love of life and who respect the planet! People who I can visit when I go on holiday to Europe.
Quite eclectic - or so I like to think! I love classical music and some of my favourite composers are Debussy; Grieg and Tchiakovsky. I love The Beatles and love attending Beatle Week in Liverpool over the August bank holiday. I'm proud to say, I'm a friend of The Overtures who play there and are the best sixties covers band in the world -ever! I also love to see The Fab Faux whilst at Beatleweek who are the best Beatles Band you're ever likely to see. Sad to say, they won't be there this year, though. I'm also a HUGE Genesis fan - a result of being force-fed Genesis by my brother Brian since he bought their first album in 1969. He would always play the albums to me and get my opinion - even at that young age. By the age of 6 I was able to recite 'Supper's Ready' - which if you're a Genesis fan, you'll know is no mean feat! I also love Crowded House and was lucky enough to see them a few times whilst they were still together. Neil and Tim Finn are a great talent. Finally, I've recently discovered Rufus Wainwright. I've yet to see him live, but hope to do so next time he's touring the UK.
God - where do I start? Having studied films, I have a real love for the cinema and especially enjoy seeing a movie at the cinema rather than on DVD. I love musicals! 'The Sound of Music' is my favourite film! I would also have to include 'Singin' in the rain', 'West Side Story' and 'An American in Paris', 'Oliver!' as well as 'Moulin Rouge' - the best musical of recent years. I love anything by Alfed Hitchcock who has to be one of this country's greatest directors. I love the Star Wars Trilogy - that is the original one - and, more recently, the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I just wish more money was put into the industry in this country as we have some of the best directors, actors and technicians in the business. I also think it's terrible how much most cinemas charge now and the price of a small popcorn is scandalous! Also films seen and admired more recently include, 'Little Miss Sunshine', 'The Queen', 'An Inconvenient Truth' and, surprisingly for a non-Bond Fan, 'Casino Royale'.
I'm a bit of a telly addict, I'm afraid, but I like to think that I'm quite a selective viewer! I like anything that David Attenborough is involved in and my current favourite programme is the new Doctor Who - absolutely brilliant. Russell T Davis deserves a medal!! And Torchwood is brilliant - I´ve had to hide behind the sofa I´ve been so scared at times!!! Life on Mars - enough said!
I'm an avid reader and have more books than space for them!! I'd love to live in a house where I could have a library - my idea of heaven! I'd find it difficult to list my favourite books as there are so many, but a few are:- 'To Kill a Mockingbird'by Harper Lee, 'The Stand' by Stephen King, 'Tales of the City' by Armistead Maupin and 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen.
Sir David Attenborough! If he asked me, I'd marry him tomorrow!! My Dad - I just wish I'd appreciated him more when he was alive. Sheila Hancock - what a strong, proud and funny lady. Harrison Ford - I fell in love with him when I was 15 and have been in love with him ever since! John Lennon - the day he was shot will be ingrained in my memory forever. Bill Oddie for his infectious enthusiasm for wildlife and keeping the dream alive!
