First off, I'd like to say I'm more interested in the people, places and things of the world that I don't know. But the current list includes cultures of all kinds, Hiking, Driving my Celica, Good Art (Sculpture and Painting are my favs), History, Good food! (I'm an ethnic junkie), Military History, Sex, Working out, Skiing, Fitted Shirts, Big open sky, Mountains, Nature, British Things, Kayaking, Travelling, Technology, Good Conversation, Wine (I like most things, bordeaux is my fav), Beer, Irish Car Bombs (the drink, not the political statement), Spontaneous Road Trips, Animals (big dogs especially), Book Stores, Making anything -especially something new that worked out right, Leatherworking, Making furniture, Concerts, the wonderful resonance of a good explosion, Comedy (I like mine dry, dark or vulgar), Dragons, Hockey (but I don't follow it religiously, I just appreciate it highly), expanding my mind in every way possible.
Someone with an opinion. Someone who did something just to get a good story out of it. Animal lovers, nerds of the world, fellow car junkies, especially Celica junkies, pretty much anyone into having a good time without stressing. Otherwise, I'd love to meet Bruce Campbell, George W Bush (as long as I get to deliver the news that he's being impeached for being such an idiot that the American people can no longer afford the liability), Sir Thomas Mallory, Enzo Ferrari, Walter Christie, Heinz Guderian, the old man of the mountain.
I'm really into 60's and 70's R&B right now. Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, the whole shot, they kick my ass!! The Police, Led Zepplin, Dirty Vegas, Death Cab for Cutie, Snow Patrol, Luce, Audioslave, Foo Fighters, Rolling Stones (early), Poisoned Dwarf, Ashley MacIsaac, Southern Culture on the Skids, John Mayer, CCR, The Who, Propellerheads, BT, Bobby Darin, Robert Johnson, Coldplay, Robert Cray, Alice in Chains, Dvorak, Art of Noise, Blue Dahlia, Billie Holiday, Crystal Method, Lords of Acid, Cibo Matto, Eels, Yello, Heart (early), George Thorogood & the Destroyers, Garbage, Fleetwood Mac, J. Geils Band, John Lee Hooker, KMFDM, Wagner, Alison Krauss, Queens of the Stone Age, Depeche Mode, Juno Reactor, Vivaldi, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Louis Armstrong, Fugazi, Orbital, Simon and Garfunkel, Leftfield, Queen, Sarah McLachlan, The Clash, Soundgarden, Etta James, Tom Petty, Beastie Boys, George Clinton, Steve Miller Band, The Kinks, Prokofiev, Muddy Waters, Van Halen (not Haggar), White Stripes, Moby, Ravel....techno, blues, rock, classical, jazz, everything except..nah...there's good stuff almost everywhere you look...
Seriously to many to list. I'm not into horror. Grosse Pointe Blank, Master and Commander, Mystery Men, Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels, TRON, Star Wars, LOTR, Band of Brothers, Love Actually, Full Metal Jacket, Willow, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Maltese Falcon, Fifth Element, Time Bandits, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, When Harry met Sally, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Henry V, American Pie, 13th Warrior...Films including John Cusack, Judy Dench, Liam Neeson, Ben Stiller, Kate Beckinsale, and Toby Maguire amongst others. But there are many many others. I've been looking into Akira Kurosawa lately.
TV? What's that? I don't really follow any show regularly at all. I do however pause in changing the channel for South Park, West Wing, Speed Channel, Seinfeld, HGTV, BBC World News, Comedy Central, Travel Channel (sometimes), practical cooking shows, movie channels, or anything on the History Channel or History International between the hours of 5pm and 2am. Basically something interesting or with a pulse. No reality shows, thank you.
Let's face it. I've half-read more books than I can count, and yet one of my favorite places is a book store. Hmmm....Perhaps some self-reflection coming up...nope forget it. Books about War. Well lets face it, I'm a military historian, it comes with the territory. Fantasy, Sci-fi, Reference (to aid my abismal memory), and books that inspire cliff notes. Poetry by Pablo Neruda (among others), Catch-22, Beowulf, Song of Roland, Books on England or Japan, classical works by Cervantez, Hemmingway, it's all good. Currently reading: The Various works of Christopher Moore - most recently Island of the Sequined Love Nun, The Wine Bible, The Dog Bible, and A Man A Can and A Microwave.
Anyone who tells it like it is, I hate pretentiousness. Anyone who tries to change life for the better and succeeds.
