thrashing nerdcore from the internets womb

About Me

ROFL began in March 2004 with members TROY HATE on vocals, PAUL SHIRKER on vocals, CHRIS BEER and DANO on guitars, JAMES BUTTERBALL on bass and SICKO MICKO on drums.
We started out with the intention of playing fast and spastic rocking hardcore like the bands we were heavily into at the time, especially the likes of Spazz and Charles Bronson. The early sound is documented on our demo, which we recorded in June 04 with Clay from Quadbox/The Brain, an eight song, nine-minute affair.
Our first show was a few weeks later in July at Maggotville with The Collapse, Stereo City, Organ Doner Kebab. Altered Beast and Pure Evil.[br] A matter of weeks later, Paul went on a European jaunt with his wife Siouxzi, and SIMON SLAUGHTER joined the band temporarily as live second vocalist.
The second show was at an abandoned army bunker site in Malabar, opening up a local Industrial/Breakcore soundsystem KILLERWATTS' party, "Satan's Soiree". The third show was with a bunch of ska-core, pop punk and rockabilly bands and was Simmo's first show (although he can't remember playing).
After playing here and there, we headlined a New Years Eve show at The Harp with The Faux Hawks, The New Justice Team, Steppin' Razor and more.
In January 2005, while two members were interstate, Chris Beer text messaged one of them telling them he no longer wanted to play with the band. [br] Mitchell, who played in Dime A Dozen, replaced Beer and ROFL was two parts Forster bred.
In March we played a show with America's Iron Lung, Iron Sausage doing a reunion set, Agents Of Abhorrence, Pure Evil, Scum System Kill and Kiosk. Soon after Paul quit the band to focus more of his time on his other band Brand Disloyalty and other things. An absolute brutal screamer. So Simmo came back on deck with his insanity again, no longer merely a mascot...
In September we got in the van and got our stoned arses up to Queensland, then played three shows in 24 hours. The first at a cool all ages venue with lots of bands, the second at Aaron Borg's backyard with cool bands, and the third at the Orient Hotel with fucking awesome bands, it was a whirlwind tour but we played fast and it was good, the people actually moved around, we'll be back.
In October our northern beaches blood got us on the bill for OCTOBERPUS ..9 at Manly Fishos, with Dano fucking himself up proper and landed in hospital (its usually only brutal bleeding from the hands).
The period between November and February was fairly rocky, with not much jamming or communication between members. In late February, at a show with Twin City Faction at Bar Broadway, Dano kicked Mitch out of the band for yet again not turning up to a gig, into the microphone.
Getting used to jamming as a five piece, we recorded at Brookvale's Scene Around Sound Studios, with DG and Matt Hunt, for a split CD with new Sydney band FRANK RIZZO. The CD is called "The Crash That Ended in E" and has 6 songs each plus a split song. DIY OR DIE RECORDS released it in May. Three launch shows were had, the first in Newcastle at the Lucky Cunt where the venue hadn't heard of either band when we turned up early. We sold a CD though!!!!!11!!!!
The second was massive - at the Empire Hotel with Massappeal opening the gig under a secret name - Moscow School Girl Firing Squad, as well as Twin City Faction and Rex Banner. We got a sweet review in the Drum Media mentioning our effect on the crowds inner ear balance and our hellish approach.
The third was at Scene Around Sound, the home of the disc, with If Provoked, Rex Banner and someone else.
The last year has been spent toying with the idea of another guitarist, but knuckling down on songwriting for the next CD, which should be out sometime after August 07. Dano is heading off on a European jaunt from mid-July for possibly a pretty long time, so catch ROFL at one of the following gigs:
