Surfers had to be in top form to ride the rip-tides on a longboard. These boards took a great skill to master, and discouraged many a beginner. Longboards didn't paddle out to sea waiting for a wave - they created a tsunami of surf sounds. They have taken three pieces of vintage equipment and recorded an old-school valve mix of hot summer sounds. Catch the curl in "Bonzai Wash Out", feel your wetsuit being pulled on in "Toro." Take a break from the Sun in "Desert Sky Beach".Jodi Porras plays bass as if he is riding his instrument into a wall of warm water. Hot & fast, loud & clear. Alfredo Romero on guitars is twang-time, reverb surf city. Ander Boda pounds the skins in a way that will make you feel like you caught the "Wallride" and made it in to cruise the beach another sunny day.Longboards are playing at the same beach party as Los Straightjackets, Dick Dale and Link Wray. A classic mix of style, sounds and instruments make this one an all-dayer. As you listen to this recording of perfect surfin' sounds it will take you to a hot sandy beach in your woody. The people are pretty and the waves just get bigger and better. Longboards are champions of surf sounds - come and ride the wildest waves with them.-------------------------------------------------------

PIPELINE MAGAZINE UK-- Nº 72--- ALBUM Nº-1 IN AL,S TOP TEN:
LONG BOARDS...BIG SURF..album
REVIEW BY ALAN TAYLOR... :
From the very begining of Moment of Truth you know you,re in for a great ride with this album. It is indeed Big Surf from Spain,s Long Boards as guitarrist Alfredo Romero sprays wall to wall trad=surf reverb sounds over dynamic bass from Jordi Porras and the pouding drums of Ander Bada.
Moment of Truth has never sounded so powerfull and there are four more mighty covers in Journey to the Stars, Banzai Washout, Big Surf and Ginchy. That the LongBoards can match the Ventures original of Journey to the Stars is quite a feat but they do it brillantly, adding in a second guitar part a spot organ sound and the end.Banzai Washout is another blast of full=on reverb surf power, Big Surf thunders intensely while Ginchy rocks mightily.
......THE Big question is can other tracks live with such classics==and the answer is yes, most definitely. These guys clearly know their surf and use many recognisable riffs and runs in constructing their original material.Requiem for Link borrows heavily from The Shadows Knows and is a fitting tribute to the Linkster.Downhill races along with fast treble picking, tremolo chords, and arrangement that adds variety plus a touch of vintage organ to fill out the sound. Jeff Philips is over in a flash, well 100 seconds to be precise, and leaves you wanting more of its fiery lead and slasing chords=luckily you can find them on both Wallride and Toro. Roll Out pounds a trad surf course with damped picking, rolling snare, plenty of cymbal and more nifty riffs and licks, while Deser Sky Beach rounds things off in fine surf style........
This is a real blast. It,s just like the old days,AN ALBUM THAT YOU HAVE TO PLAY RIGTH THROUGH AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. BRILLANT IT,S GREAT

Vroeger had je hier in Nederland The Treble Spankers. Frans Elshout

SANTA CRUZ REVIEWS
I'M NOT really sure how the waves are off the coast of Spain, but with bands like the Longboards laying down blazing instrumental surf rock, at least we know the tunes are in good hands there. Recalling the Endless Summer days of big boards and fast cars, the Longboards rip it out in style on vintage pieces to match their retro cool vintage sounds full of reverb, wild guitar work and solid rhythms. Wickedly high-octane riffs, dynamic bass lines and cymbal crazy action on the kit mark the Longboards sets. They channel the big wave sounds of the King of the Surf Guitar himself, the one and only Dick Dale. (Ryan Osterbeck)The Longboards play on Friday (Jan. 12) at 9pm at Johnny V's, 31 E. Santa Clara St, San Jose. Tickets are $5. (408.947.8470)
