Rebecca Moore is currently performing with Mandolin/Banjo player Tom Blain. They have just placed equal first in the People's Choice Award of the Good Folk Song Competition at the Brunswick Hotel in Melbourne. They placed third in the Grand Final on Tuesday 20th November.Their new album is currently in pre-production. Two of the early demos, "Canadian Ice Princess" and "Neverland" are tracks one and two above. Rebecca and Tom are currently in negotioations with MCM Global Productions of Ireland in relation to international exposure for the new record.A live recording of another new track from the album titled "Deep Down", placed in the top 100 of the Acoustic category of the Musioz Awards. (December 2006)In 2008 Rebecca and Tom will play a 6 week residency at the Uluru Resort, play the Cobargo folk festival, the Newcastle Music Festival and the Kilmore Celtic Festival.Blues Folk Roots Rock performer Rebecca Moore has supported some of Australia's best roots and blues artists such as Xavier Rudd, the John Butler Trio, Jez, Archie Roach and the Back Sliders (Rob Hirst of Midnight Oil). She has played shows with The Church, Margaret Urlich and Things of Stone and Wood.Rebecca and Tom have just completed a tour to Darwin in the Northern Territory (October 2007) . Whilst in the NT they flew to the Indigenous community of Milingimbi and performed for the children at the Milingimbi school.Rebecca was a Finalist in the ABC Newcastle Music Awards Blues and Roots Award, 2004. The song "Desert" featured on Rebecca's debut album "The Uluru Concept", which featured Gavin Shoesmith and Jason McGann of the original John Butler Trio. Her songs "Tall Ships", "ICBM" and "Oh Father" placed in the semi-finals of the 2005 ABC Newcastle Muisc Awards.Rebecca won the APRA Professional Development Award for Rock in 2001.
This award provided Rebecca with $10,000 which financed a UK tour and also her EP "Butterfly Catcher", engineered by Jen Anderson in Melbourne, featuring Grant Cummerford (Jeff Lang/Matt Walker/Xavier Rudd) on Bass.
Rebecca is a gifted songwriter with ability to transport audiences on an emotional and metaphorical journey. She has been compared to Tracey Chapman, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell and Sarah McLachlan; however she maintains a distinct individuality and an awesome creative presence.In 2004 Rebecca recorded two songs with Sydney electro/bluesman Trapazoid (Matt Trapnell). These two songs, Wisdom and Sad Friend, (track three and four above), were both written and performed by Trapazoid with Rebecca doing vocals on both tracks.
In 2007 Rebecca is continuing her third year as Music Director and co-ordinator of the Acoustic Music Series at the Star of the Sea Theatre in Manly. The 2006 programme featured some of Australia's best Acoustic Roots music talent including Jeff Lang, Melanie Horsnell, Ashley Davies and Matt Walker.
Rebecca recently completed a Diploma of Fine Arts majoring in Painting.
She has featured on many radio shows including Triple J's Morning Show, Creatures of the Spotlight, and Roots n' all.
