HELP US!!! By adding us as a friend and putting us in your "Top 8." This way people can see us and know more about LGBT advocacy and activism in North Carolina!
Activate! - The North Carolina Advocacy Coalition (Activate! - NCAC) is a new state-wide advocacy group for LGBT and allied North Carolina. Activate! - NCAC is a section 527 (IRS), state and local political action committee in the State of North Carolina (NC State Board of Elections).
OUR FIRST PRESS COVERAGE!!!
YES! Weekly, an independent weekly newspaper printed in Greensboro, NC, has done a story on Activate! - NCAC for its May 24th issue. Click here to read the story at the YES! Weekly website!
Our Mission & Purpose:
Activate! - The North Carolina Advocacy Coalition (Activate! - NCAC) exists to increase voter participation, public education and to advocate for issues and legislation that are important to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied North Carolinians. We will accomplish this goal by promoting LGBT and allied candidates and politicians, internet and community activism and the coordinated help of volunteers contributing their time toward research, blogging, distribution of voting information, “tabling,” community outreach, networking and coalition building.
LGBT youth & the 18 - 24 year old voting demographic:
Activate! - NCAC has a special and continuing focus on LGBT youth and, especially, the 18 - 24 year old voting demographic. Out of all voting age demographics, 18 to 24 year olds vote the least. This is sad because 18 to 24 year olds are predominantly, although not always, more progressive on the issues which matter to LGBT and allied individuals. It is common sense… The more 18-24 year olds who get registered to vote and then actually do it, then the more we see progressive voting patterns on issues important to LGBT and allied North Carolinians.

Want to get involved?
We need an individual willing to volunteer as treasurer… by State law. This is a BIG NEED. Board of Directors members. These individuals would be the folks who would, collectively, guide and lead the organization in undertaking its mission and goals. The work wouldn't be too much, as the daily operation would like on Board members like the Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director and Treasuer, but the work is beneficial and needed for the organization to work. Vocal support of respected Community Leaders like YOU! With your support of Activate! - NCAC, you have the possibility of helping us get established. Attending any future events we might hold, BECOMING A MEMBER, and spreading the word about the group and our mission.
