About Me

Anne Wirz had been under Jazz influence since her early childhood due to her father, an avant-garde jazz sax player. At 12 , she discovered and was amazed by Ella Fitzgerald. She started to learn how to sing jazz on Ella Fitzgerald 's records. Then she trained in jazz(at the CIM) and classical in Paris before spending two years in London where she worked with Sean Oliver (from Rip Rig and Panic) before his tragic death. Back in France she recorded an unreleased album with French jazz legend Jef Gilson. While working as a picture editor in magazines she continued writing songs , poetry , collaborating and singing live with diverse french jazz musicians including Claude Barthélémy. Her first released song was a Tribute to Jef Gilson on a 12'' released by Isma'a label in 2003. This was quickly followed by a great live and album collaboration with African American Philly sax legend Byard Lancaster released on Isma'a / Discograph. Her love for deep electronic music lead her to a friendship with Osunlade with who she recorded a song released on Yoruba compilation Ibara (Soul Jazz records). Then two 12"s were released on Heavenly Sweetness in 2006 : A tribute to 70's spiritual (Spirit Jazz) and an original composition Guerrière with remixes by Fourtet. Now concentrating on her own band and music , she recorded while pregnant of her second child her first album " Infini " released in Japan in april 2007 on label P-Vine and now released in France since mid- november 2007 on Heavenly Sweetness.

Dusty Groove album review
' An incredibly beautiful little record -- one recorded recently in France, but done with the same spiritual undercurrents of 70s independent jazz vocal work from the US! Anne Wirz sings in both English and French, and she's drawing here on some great inspirations -- material from Sathima Bea Benjamin, Mark Murphy, Michel Legrand, and Carlos Garnett -- as well as some of her own great compositions too! Backing is by a small combo that includes the mighty John Betsch on drums, plus piano, Fender Rhodes, bass, and a bit of harp -- all recorded with a nice sense of warmth and soul, in the manner of other recent contemporary classics on the Heavenly Sweetness label. Titles include "When You Came", "Maiden Voyage", "Amour Amour", "Music", "Mother Of The Future", "Guerriere", "Cerebralement Incorrect", and "L'Univers S'Innocente"'Get Your Own! | View Slideshow ..
