I am the current head coach at Mississippi State University. I am a Tuscaloosa, AL native. I played football for the University of Alabama, where I lettered 3 times. During my playing time, I helped to lead the Crimson Tide to 3 straight SEC Titles, as well as a National Championship in 1973.I played for the New Orleans Saints for one year before deciding that coaching was what I wanted to do, so I returned to Alabama for 11 years. In my tenure there, I went top 10 bowl games, including 2 national championships.
They have an award named after me for the hardest working player in Spring drills. After that, I tried my hand in the NFL, starting off with the Tampa Bay Bucs for 4 years as the RB coach there, then another year at Indy.Next, I went to San Diego as the RB coach for 5 years. While there, I helped my team get to the Super Bowl, win our divison a couple of times, and several post-season appearances. After that was Detroit, where I was offensive coordinator. In 1997, my offense was 2nd in the league, and during my for years there, I went to the playoffs twice, and barely missed out a 3rd time.My final 3 seasons in the NFL were with Green Bay as again a RB Coach. In 2003, we were 3rd in the league in rushing. Now, Im starting my 3rd season at Mississippi State, and after our 35-14 Egg Bowl win to end the season last year, we have a lot of momentum going into this next year.To our opponents: "We're Ready"
