Without a Map

About Me

Apparently I'm a scanner. Someone who not only wants to do everything, but honestly believes they can.I'm a singer at heart, a geographer, a book-coffee-and beer snob, and prone to being too serious. I'm easily annoyed by the banality of life - small talk, dishonesty, and the DMV. I love books so much that I get dressed up to go to the library.I'm that person at a party who isn't interested in chatter, but will sit with you curled up in a corner with a glass of wine to discuss the real dirt of life, love, and politics.

You have been marked on my profile map! Click to zoom-in.
I'm leaving for four months in Nepal starting in January. I'll be working in a middle school, as I have before in Thailand. I really appreciate Asian culture, and plan to visit as many Asian countries as I can before this life adventure is through.

Playing a little catch-up here.  A few weekends ago Surya and I went to the edge of Tibet along the Chinese highway.  The hills were gorgeous, although I was having a hard time getting them on the cam...

Nothing

I've been a little lazy writing lately.  I'm also out of batteries for my camara and am tired of paying for cheap Chinese ones that last all of about a day, so no new pictures for now.  I kn...

D.C. bound

I had a great weekend at the edge of Tibet, and then in Chitwon park where I saw eight Rhinos, but I don't feel like writing about that today.  Especially since it's taken an hour just to get int...

Look Ma No Hands!

At a last minute invitation to go to a remote villiage this weekend, I got to the chance to do many things the guide books explicitly say you shouldn't do. Nima first thing in the morning and said, "W...

Random Pics and stuff

Ancient looking old ladies are a surprising source of friendliness here.  Rather than being shy and withdrawn, they encourage their grandbabies to make namaste to me.  Huge smiles with missing teeth w...

Future Rock Stars of America

There is a level of paranoia here that has somewhat baffled me.  But today I got a little taste of why people are in their houses with doors locked by 8pm.  On my way to the cyber I found myself in th...

Monks with Guns

When I was visiting Swayambu with Bibek's family, three young monks came raging around the corner playing, of all things, shoot 'em up, with a very realistic looking toy gun.  They were more than happ...

Emily had informed me that she stopped in the Turnip Truck and got swamped by inquiries about my travels, and a not surprising request from JD about whether I can work shifts in May.  Go figure.&...
