My Interests

much better

I'd like to meet:

MiyazakiFiona Apple, old friends, relatives, a guru in Rishikesh, my cousin in India, Sam on SG1 =)

Music:

My latest craze has been indie rock/pop, definitely enjoy classical at work (Baroque especially), groove salad kicks ass on winamp radio, the typical stuff therafter. Happy stuff: Architecture in Helsinki, Starlight Mints, VFemmes, newly discovered happy bands from indie rock/pop. NIN soothes when needed. RATM can be used as a stimulant. Standard favorites: Eels, Andrew Bird, Beck, NMissAllStars, Rob Randolph, cat power, matt pond, fiona, etc. Chill music from Groove Salad of course: Tosca, Mum, Sigor Rus, Hybrid, etc. Stereolab, Zero 7, Queens of the Stone Age, Manson soothes as well at times, Morcheeba, Miyazaki soundtracks would be cool if I would buy one...Margot and the Nuclear So Sos, definitely need to hear Sufjan Stevens, etc more to come

Movies:

Can't get enough of the thought provoking and independent kind. Always searching. You must go through many bad movies in order to find the hidden jewels.... the great thing about movie festivals. Sidewalk Rocks! Love Miyazaki... definitely interested in what his son can pull off with EarthSea. Love watching old movies at the Alabama and sidewalk camping at the Alabama Theatre. I can't wait for September. Seven Samurai, Zatoichi, Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Waking Life, Upcoming Linklater, Dark City, Spirited Away, Garden State, My Neighbor Totoro (fav), Anything foreign and with subtitles of course, Motorcycle Diaries, on and on and more to come

Television:

Eh - nothing good. I don't even have cable because I've been disappointed in the past... plus I can always download what I like. If only I could pay for 3-4 cable channels. I do miss "How I Met Your Mother." Other shows that I must see during the season: 24. I have to say that I always download SciFi Friday (when it's on!) until the cable companies sell it on digital for $5/month.

Books:

Not really lately - more like a few years go - mostly vedic literature stuff that deals with the foundation of Hinduism, but otherwise, I wish I had time. (Christianity is starting to really fucking piss me off - sorry, no offense - just a personal issue.) With work, play, and thoughts, there's very little room. I read mostly when i first started work three years ago (2003), when I actually had time at home. That's when I read Life of Pie, Climbing Mt. Chamundi, American Fuji, Tibetan Book of the Dead, Finding George Orwell in Burma, and reread some classics to find myself again.

Heroes:

Mom, grandpa, and The Real American Hero of course

My Blog
