I've learned over the past several years that life is too short and fragile to live a miserable existance. I don't know how people do it.....they spend their days in a miserable job, in a miserable relationship, in a miserable place...for what? Money? Power? Obligation? It's not worth it to me. Life is too short to merely exist. I want to live. And I don't want my life to be in vain. I have to take lemons and make lemonade out of them. I have to find a purpose in this world. I have to belong somewhere. I have to be somebody.
What is it going to take to make this happen? It is a mystery that I must solve. The door is locked, but somewhere among all of the obstacles and hinderances, there is a key. There has to be. If I have to spend my entire life looking for it, that is what I will do. I will not choose to settle for mere existance, to have regrets when I find myself at death's door. I want to look back on my life and be able to say that I not only ran the race, but crossed the finish line with a content heart, knowing that I made every effort to live. ~Kelli © 2007
The best way to get to know me is to visit my personal website at www.ugottafriend.com...it's under renovation, but I've reopened the front page so feel free to take a stroll!
And now, here's one of those goofy myspace get to know me surveys:
If I looked on the bed next to you, what would I find?
A stuffed Eeyore
What would I find if I looked UNDER your bed?
Bob Ross supplies
Are you a cuddler?
Not when I sleep, but other times yes
Marriage or living together?
For me? Neither.
Do you sing?
Very loudly and obnoxiously in my car - I often wonder what people think when they see me singing, but I don't suppose it matters
Do you talk about your feelings or hide them?
Depends on what those feelings are...I'm pretty open most of the time, and wear my heart on my sleeve
Is there something you regret and wish you could take back?
Yep, all of my regrets involve relationships, which is why I chose to retire from them
First thing you do when you wake up?
Punch the snooze button
What are your credentials?
Certified Office Administrator, Certified Access Forms Designer, Certified Ross Instructor
College plans?
I plan to complete my Microsoft Office Certification and I am currently persuing my Graphic Arts degree
Retirement plans?
If I make it to retirement in one piece and have enough money to live on, I'll be a happy camper. If I have the means to do whatever I want, I'll travel, take pictures, write, and paint happy trees until the day I die.
Ever had surgery?
Yep - oral, abdominal, major knee/leg, and two kidney stone related procedures
Do you tend to rip the paper off water bottles?
If I'm nervous
How long does it take for you to fall asleep at night?
A very long time...usually several hours, if I sleep at all
Current song on myspace?
If Everyone Cared by Nickelback
What's the funniest name you've ever been called?
It's a duel between being called wicked while in Florida and my cousin calling me a Ninja the other day. I think the Ninja wins (they always do, you know). :-)
What are you looking forward to in the next few months?
Teaching Bob Ross classes
It's midnight - who are you texting?
My number one bro
Honestly, if you could have ANYONE in the world, who would it be?
Define "have"....
Your Christmas list consists of?
Money...just money. I'm drowning in doc bills.
How do you feel about your hair?
It's going gray but I'll live...I have more important things to worry about
What movie is in your DVD player?
Sabrina (the Harrison Ford version) in the DVD player, Bob Ross in the VCR
If you could move away, no questions asked, where would you move?
If money was no object - New Smyrna Beach, Florida
How many siblings do you have?
Four brothers, two sisters, one stepbrother, one stepsister
What kind of car do you drive?
1995 Ford Taurus Wagon...the better to hold all of my art supplies and other random crap...I live like a gypsy.
What is the sappiest, most romantic love song you know?
Most definitely "You Come To My Senses" by Chicago. Every time I listen to it I'm like WOW, that's even too sappy for ME! Great song.
How many TRUE best friends do you have?

Music:

I like a lot of different kinds of music, mostly rock from the 60's, 70's, and 80's! My favorites are Chicago, Doobie Brothers, U2, Eagles, Lionel Richie, Journey, Elton John, Phil Collins, Air Supply, and many others! I collect love songs, because I'm sappy like that. I also support Alabama musician Taylor Hicks and I am very involved in Praise and Contemporary Christian Music.

Chicago...32 albums and 41 years strong. One of my earliest memories involves me as a very young child crying over Chicago's love songs...haaaaaa! They are my sweethearts...I have loved them all my life. :-)

Chicago- Backstage 1995

Here are the boys in 1995, backstage in Japan! Jason is an adorable youngin', Tris has long black hair (wow), and Robert is being his usual gorgeous self...heeeee!

---

The boys back in the day once again...this is such a fun song, one of my favorites. Jason and those curls...gotta love him! And Robert Lamm is so beautiful, he should be illegal! Hahahaaaa!

---
Chicago- "25 or 6 to 4" Irvine, CA 9-15-2007

The boys in 2007, absolutely ROCKIN' the house!!! WOOOOOOOO!!! Thanks Jamie for a great video!

---

This is what I consider to be my "theme song". It really hits home for me. Be encouraged by the words of Martina McBride as she sings "Anyway".

---

This is an amazing video set to "Praise You In This Storm" by Casting Crowns. This song is powerful and extremely significant in my life, having gone through many painful and trying times as well as literal storms including Hurricanes Elena, Georges, Ivan, and Katrina. It is a reminder that even when our lives are falling apart, we can continue to stand strong by the awesome and unwavering grace of God. I believe that every person on earth can find hope in these words...may all of those who watch and hear it be blessed.

---

Four of the sweetest men I have ever met in my life...Marty Magehee, Kirk Sullivan, Mark Harris, and Andy Chrisman - formerly of the group 4Him. I love them dearly and wish them the greatest of blessings in their solo projects.

---

"The Impossible Dream" by Luther Vandross...a song of hope and inspiration. May we all have the courage to dream the impossible dream.

Movies:

The Chronicles of Narnia, The Bucket List, Sabrina, Moulin Rouge, You've Got Mail, Field of Dreams, The Truman Show

Television:

Food Network, HGTV, TLC, and Music Choice...I can do without everything else. I do, however, find myself watching American Idol when it comes on. I've only voted once, and that was for Taylor Hicks in 2006.

Books:

"Once there was a tree, and she loved a little boy..." Although labeled a children's book, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein is a story of great sacrifice and unconditional love.

Heroes:

My Grandmother, who celebrated independance from her suffering on July 3rd, 2007

To embrace life is to truly live
Never taking more than what you give

Listen to the sound of a rushing wave
Sit at the park and watch children play

Rejoice when a newborn baby cries
Weep with a friend when their loved one dies

Cherish the dawn of each new day
Choose to see the world in a different way

Sacrifice to help your fellow brother
Live well, laugh often, and love each other

Never taking more than what you give
To embrace life is to truly live
