Just me and my machines and my mac. Use REASON very heavily, my Nord Modular and my Korg beatboxes. I write alot of glitch and whatever takes my mood. I work in the music retail industry and have the pleasure of working closely with developers and Beta testing software.Looking forward to doing some more live gigs when I get the time.Recently released a track through BELLARINE RECORDINGS in Melbourne. Hit ..1 in many charts and countries. Reviewed on RESIDENT ADVISER by Dave Lee who gave it a 10/10.
Had the pleasure of using some of Si Begg's vocal samples to bring it all together.J2D2 - Spirit He Gained To Move on
Label: Bellarine Recordings
Style: Hip-Hop / Downtempo
Cat Number: BELR 007
Release Date: Feb 2006What happens when your mind and your imagination wants to express whats inside to the outside world, yet you have no instruments to play music? No band. No keyboard. Not even a drum machine. Enter music software and J2D2.Consider this an experiment from a wunderkid that shouldnt be left unnoticed. Made entirely in Reason with nearly no loops repeating, J2D2s Spirit He Gained To Move On sounds like a work of an early Scott Hardkiss reaching his prime. Programmed with love, Spirit is brilliant, enlightening, and ethereal all at once. Influences of early Hip-Hop and Downtempo are the backdrop to this gem.Though when I sit back and listen to this, Im quite amazed that I can hear a soul reflecting out from the speakers. Its reflective and siren and it will make any Hip-Hop and electronic fan proud to see people like J2D2 still pushing technology in creative ways when access is only as limited as the imagination.Ewan McArthur, the founder of Ballarine certainly has a winner with this.Rating: 10 / 10.
Spirit he gained to move on was recorded at Boo Studio featuring Leon Blaher on piano.
Leon Blaher was the genius behind the piano parts, after listening to this peice for a short time he played this straight off the top of his head, this was just the way it was meant to be. This gave an emotional feel to this epic piece of electronica. Big thanks to Leon Blaher for his input, would not have turned out to be this big without him.
