About Me

MyGen Profile Generator blah blah blah! NuBreed are Australia's premier live electronic act. In Australia they were nominated for 3 DMA's (Dance Music Awards) 2003 Best Debut Artist, Best Live Act and Best New Release, and nominated for Best Live Act again the 2004 awards. In the UK 2004 they were nominated for Best New Artist at the BREAKSPOLL awards (www.breakspoll.com) and came 2nd in that category, and one of their live shows recorded in Hobart was broadcast in it's entirety (well over an hour) on Radio One (www.bbc.co.uk/radio1) by Annie Nightingale. Click here to listen. They've played some of the biggest events here in Australia including the Boiler Room of the Big Day Out, they co-headlined the mainstage at this year's Two Tribes event at Rod Laver Arena with Dave Seaman, Junkie XL & Layo & Bushwacka, they played mainstage at the Falls Festival last year, they warmed up for Sasha at the Adventjah festival in Brisbane, they played Sydney & Melbourne on the Gatecrasher tour, Vibes On A Summers Day with Jamiroquai, they were asked to support Groove Armada on their last national tour (but had to turn it down due to their album writing commitments). They have also done a Y4k tour in 2006 and played many different countries since.Premier breaks label Mob Records run by DJ Tayo (and the original home of the Stanton Warriors) signed NuBreed up to record their debut album entitled 'The Original' which will see a release in the UK in October and in Australia early in 2004. NuBreed have remixed everyone from Tiesto & Junkie XL, to Way Out West, Skunk Anansie, Scritti Politti and Groove Terminator. They were Top 5 on the national ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) Club Chart with their remix of BMG artist Hamish, and the track they remixed for Tiesto & Junkie XL hit the Top 60 singles chart in the UK. Their tracks and remixes are in demand across the world with placements on albums from Global Underground to Ministry of Sound. Rewind (The Past) The Melbourne trio have quickly risen to the forefront of the Australian live music scene largely due to their supremely energetic live performances and the widespread radio success of their first single 'Welcome'. The track was released through a small independent label (Zero Tolerance) and worked so well it stayed on high rotation with Australia's largest national youth radio network (Triple J) for 9 months. Meanwhile, NuBreed were devastating audiences all over the country with an onslaught of soaring vocals, progressive breaks, raps & rhymes, drum 'n bass and the odd tribal tech workout. The foundations of NuBreed were laid over 10 years ago when the three members Jase (Jason Catherine), Mykel (Michael Walburgh) and Db (Danny Bonnici) met while working around Melbourne. By this stage, all three had realized their life paths would center in music. When they weren't rockin', poppin', dancin' and performing backflips (our NuBreeders were a devastating force to contend with on Melbourne dancefloors back in the day!), Db, Mykel & Jase were collaborating on songwriting, production and programming projects for various Australian acts. They cut their teeth on hip hop, R&B, funk, soul and rock music in the process and piece by piece the musical foundations of the act began to take shape. The NuBreed sound was distilled over 2 years inside a studio combining more than 40 years of their collective musical experience.Their debut live performance at QBH (Melbourne's largest club) late in 2000 was executed in front of thousands of their hip hop peers at the National DMC DJ Championship Finals. Erupting on stage shrouded in hoods UR style, they brandished spray cans and tagged 'Nubreed' across the stage backdrop, and then proceeded to turn the hip hop community's gala annual event on it's head by dropping rhymes over tearing drum 'n bass and ripping out nu-school breaks on a very unsuspecting audience. "We split people sideways" Jase recalls, "Whether you loved it or hated it, you couldn't ignore it." Floorfiller (Live performances) NuBreed have played at almost all the major festivals in Australia and supported some of the most respected acts from around the world, in addition to headlining regularly at club and dance party appearances.FESTIVALS & MAJOR EVENTS...Stardust Festival Satellite Festival MIX AM (Auckland) Winter Beats Festival Adventjah Festival with Sasha Falls Festival NYE 2001/2002 Enchanted Forest with the EZ Rollers Earthcore 10th anniversary festival Revolver supporting Adam Freeland The Offshore Festival with Fat Boy Slim Big Day Out with Roni Size & Reprazent Two Tribes 2001 with Dave Seaman & Timo Mass Two Tribes 2002 with Goldie & Jeff Mills Two Tribes 2003 with Dave Seaman & Junkie XL Prince of Wales supporting Adam Freeland Welcome 2001 with Sasha & John Digweed Vibes On A Summers Day with Jamiroquai Global Underground with Danny Howells Gatecrasher Summer Sound System (national) with De La Soul Escape to the Powerhouse with Junkie XL & Slacker (Singapore) Breakfest @ Belvoir (Perth) with Krafty Kuts, Soul of Man & Tayo Ministry of Sound Club Nation (Sydney & Melbourne) with DJ Lottie 33 1/3 with the Black Eyed Peas, Cut Le Roc, James Lavelle & the Resin Dogs Y4k Tour 2006 Ministry Of Sound Taiwan Fabric (London) Other countries and cities including the U.S.A,Canada,China,KL,Singapore,Jarkata,England,Hong Kong, DISCOGRAPHY NUBREED - 'THE ORIGINAL' - debut album on Mob Records DIRTY FOURS vs LUKE CHABLE - 'BASS TRAP' - on Vapour DIRTY FOURS - 'RAINMAKER - on Vapour DIRTY FOURS - 'BREATHLESS' - EQ HIGHLAND - 'NO WAY OUT' (NuBreed remix) - on Vapour NUBREED & DEEKLINE & PHIL K & PHIL RANSOM - 'BUSHPIG' - out now on Supercharged HAMISH - 'FOREVER & NEVER' - (NuBreed remix) - BMG XY-CLONE & SONIX - 'MORPHEUS CHAIN' (NuBreed remix) - Chrome Yellow PQM - 'BABE I'M GONNA LEAVE YOU' (Phil K vs NuBreed remix) - TIESTO vs JUNKIE XL - 'OBSESSION' (NuBreed remix) - out now on Nebula NUBREED vs SKUNK ANANSIE - 'WEEP' - Mob Records WAY OUT WEST - STEALTH' (NuBreed remix) - out now on Distinctive NUBREED - 'SATELLITES / XENOMORPH' - Mob Records NUBREED - 'IONOSPHERE' - Mob Records GROOVE TERMINATOR - 'BRAND NEW DAY' (NuBreed remix) - EMI JASP 182 'MILLENIUM DAWN' (NuBreed remix) - Mob Records NUBREED presents DIRTY FOURS - 'DEPTH / HARDARSE' - AKA NUBREED - 'ROCK DA CITY' - Zero Tolerance JIMMY CHRISTO - SOMEBODY LIKE YOU' (NuBreed remix) - Mushroom FREE RADICALS 'SUMMERBREEZE' (NuBreed remix) - NUBREED - 'MIDI KILLA / NEPTUNE BEACH' - Boombox NUBREED - 'SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY / CHILD'S PLAY' - Stomp NUBREED - 'FOOD FOR THOUGHT' - Zero Tolerance NUBREED - 'D.ZIRE' - out now on Inflight Entertainment APEX - 'SYMMETRY' remixed by NUBREED - Marine Parade NUBREED - 'WELCOME' NUBREED vs SCRITTI POLITTI - 'ABSOLUTELY CHOPPED' SONIC ANIMATION 'I'M AFRAID I THINK I'M HUMAN' (Phil K VS NuBreed remix) - released on Global Recordings NUBREED /Luke CHABLE - TOKYO -TROJAN NUBREED - FESTA - DISTINCTIVE NUBREED - THING - DISTINCTIVE NUBREED - RAW SHIT - KILOWATTGet Your Own! | View Slideshow
