BIOGRAPHYThe Compulsives formed in 2003. The group is the result of the desire of four musicians, Chris, Olly, Rob, and Lewis to write pop songs. Inspired by many bands such as The Smiths, Joy Division and the Police, the band has developed a sound which draws on characters observed everyday on the streets and every night in the city. The songs themselves are driven by disco drums, bouncing bass, glowing neon melodies and lyrics populated by mannequins, perverse madonna’s and hyenas; all in a short three city minutes! The Compulsives are based in Liverpool and play live regularly. Live the band are an energetic proposition, frequently inducing spontaneous dancing in the audience. It is rare for a set to end without broken drumsticks scattering the stage and requests for more songs. This has lead to some notable support slots with touring bands such as Juliette & the Licks, Babyshambles, Alterkicks and The Noisettes. The Compulsives intend to get their music out too as many people as possible. In February the band recorded in Liverpool’s famous Elevator Studios, this resulted in a demo CD that perfectly represents the sound the band has developed. This summer the band plan to set out on their first tour and have also been invited to perform at a number of festivals such as the Y-Not Festival and the SYK Festival in
