.jpg[/IMG]The moment DJ Quest touches vinyl-moving the record back-and-forth and sliding on the next hot cut-the hype takes form, engulfing the crowd. One of the livest DJs in the Bay, DJ Quest injects crowds with personality and flavor, taking patrons on a ride they refuse to get off. Knowing what the streets want to hear, he aims to please, not only satisfying the ears of the brothers in the club, but also taking special care of the ladies present.Such effortless crowd control is routine for DJ Quest. Born Brett Badelle, Quest grew up in Oakland, California, where the long-standing independent rap scene helped to mold his turntable tactics. I love to let the locals shine, says Quest, who gets his name from being a money-questing entrepreneur. A lot of DJs play whats hot everywhere else, but I give my hometown the props they deserve. Representing Oakland to the fullest, DJ Quest is the official DJ for the As (formally known as 4Deep), as well as the Bay Areas third best-selling artist-and Quests good friend-The Jacka. In addition, Quest has toured with Nappy Roots, and also mans the wheels of steel for Husalah of THIZZ ENT., The Mob Figgaz. and Pretty Black, a novice MC from Chicago. I love the crowd reaction to Hip Hop, Quest says of his job benefits. I love the atmosphere of clubs and looking at the crowd. Its beautiful.Specializing in Hip Hop and R&B, DJ Quest first became interested in the art of record-spinning by attending an after school program, Youth Radio, at the age of 16. While there, he produced weekly radio shows and was an on-air personality for 89.3 KPFB and 94.1 KPFA in Berkeley. After seeing the turntables in the back room, he transitioned his interest into action, staying up until the early morning hours to hone his technique and style. While working at KPFA, DJ Quest met a former intern from KPFA and KMEL branded Moe from Tha O who became his guide and mentor, issuing Quest a crash-course in both basic business and how to upgrade his DJ hustle into a fulltime career. For Quest, Moes wisdom-coupled with two primary role models-are blueprints for success. In terms of vinyl-control, Jam Master Jay is the Quests main influence. The late Queens legends ability to speak with his mouth and his hands, producing creativity and excitement and displaying his skill on the turntables have inspired this Bay Area new jack. Away from the tables, Russell Simmons capabilities to build multi-million dollar companies without rapping or producing have been equally tell-tale for Quest. With such guiding lights, Quests ultimate grind extends beyond the booth. Aside from his DJ duties, he holds heavy interest in real estate and enjoys traveling, specifically to different hoods across the country. The multi-tasker also has extensive community-service experience, volunteering for the City of Oakland Parks and Recs, Bay Area youth dance group Culture Shock, and Youth Court, a youth camp for aspiring attorneys. As far as future plans, DJ Quest-a true entrepreneur at heart-hopes to become a business owner and develop his real estate career. Of course, music remains his true passion. With that in mind, Quest hopes to contribute his hit-sensitive ears to the major label world as an A&R. Hip-hop is a part of me, reasons the tireless turntablist. I couldnt see my life without it.heck out upcoming projects and mixtapes by DJ Quest, including The As- High School Dropouts, available now as well as his future projects The Jacka- The Day In The Life Of A Mob Figa and Mistah F.A.B.- Pole Dizness, both set to drop January 2006.REST IN PEACE Z CA$H
