Bridget and the Big Girls Blues.
The name "Big Girls Blues" was the idea of a late friend of the band, and refers to the great women blues and jazz singers of the 1920's and 30's.
Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, Alberta Hunter, Memphis Minnie Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and many more were all
larger than life. They sang from the soul, with true emotion,
songs of love, heartache and survival, often alongside vaudeville and double entendre.
Lead vocalist of the trio, Bridget, recreates with passion and a powerful voice, the spirit of the era.
She is joined by accomplished and dedicated musicians,
Andy Wood, guitar and arrangements,
Syd Greenfield, double bass,
or Steve Browning, guitar.
