when maike rosa vogel figured that music is the one and very thing that makes her really happy, she tried to memorize as many songs as possible before she was able to write them down.
having a collection of hundreds of them (mostly labour movement songs and children songs for labour movement kids as well es anti war songs), she always sang them in the car when she and her family went on holidays.
she sang there for hours feeling happy for no good reason until her brother gave her money so she'd shut the fuck up.
other people were more supportive but there's always been a huge fraction of people who accused her of making them depressive or simply said she couldn't sing.
taking all this as a clear proof that she was just ahead of her time, she founded her first punk band with fourteen (bandmaid carla later founded the punk band 'playrude' which became a legend in the frankfurt area), fooled around with electronic music for a while ('Me Shell Resounds' and 'The Grand Mirage' are babies from this era) until she started doing what she's calling now 'electrofolk' (she'd love to call it 'electrofolkpunk' but she's too afraid of the punk police).
and see: the world is catching up.
to this day she made many people cry with her music as well as she saved some lives and she finally found the most adorable superboy to support her on stage (ken burke) and also some great musicians who play their instruments wonderfully on her recordings.
Maike Rosa Vogel ist diejenige Musikerin, die man sich hätte backen wollen, wenn man denn nur visionär genug gewesen wäre, die richtigen Schlüsse zu ziehen. Maike Rosa Vogel ist das einzig vernünftige und gleichzeitig unglaublich poetische Ergebnis dessen, was zwischen gefühlsbetontem Elektropop und Wandergitarre übrig bleibt, wenn man beides auf so etwas wie Seele reduziert. Maike Rosa Vogel tritt gleichzeitig den Beweis an, dass Text, dieses gerne mal schändlich vernachlässigte Element, noch immer ungeahnte Möglichkeiten bietet. Weniger abstrahiert als Barbara Morgenstern und unendlich viel schlauer als 2Raumwohnung klingt Maike Rosa Vogel wie die ständig frische Quelle, die schon immer dagewesen ist. Pop is allright.
