Damn, where do I start? Ok, my mood has always been affected by music since I can remember, but 94/95 was my breakthrough year with my life's influences by music. The movie "Juice", Jamil from brooklyn, DJ S-Dub, & producer extraordinare Syfa 1 were important role players that influenced myself deeper into music. My musical tastes vary, foreign, hard/classic/punk rock, r&b, etc... I don't know about all of you, but when I noticed getting the chillz when I heard a really good song/beat, I knew music was a going to be a major factor in my existance... As far as the music at the time, [94] West & East coast hip hop was the majority 4 me at that brief time, but my versatile ear soaked up everything from the bay to brooklyn. 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Black Moon, Nas, Smif-N-Wessun, The Pharcyde, Jeru The Damaja, Wu Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, Souls Of Mischief, Paris [not the hilton], Scarface, Redman, Method Man, Ice Cube, 2nd II None, DJ Quik, etc... these artists motivated me to start making mixtapes for a homeboy from bk named Jamil & then most of my close friends. Even to this day I still have friends that show me tapes or speak on tapes I made YEARS ago which is a good feeling. And when I say mixtapes I mean pause mixes/compilations on 4 track/tape, not cd. I made so many for each person individually out of the love of doin' it and to this day, i'm still at it 11 years later for the love of music! On to 1998/99, after the critical state of hip hop after the assasinations of Makaveli & Biggie, shit was not the same for any of us after that. The "Wu Tang Forever" album helped ease the pain & following that was the brotha Killah Priest, who had the memorable song "B.I.B.L.E." which is an acronym for "basic instructions before leaving earth". His "Heavy Mental" album & Ras Kass "Soul On Ice" paved the way for my friends & myself to start our own movement of music & biblical study groups in the form of the group called the "24 Elderz". There was almost 24 of us from time to time, but there was so many people with so many ideas/differences/etc..., that we were never able to put an album out but it did fuel individual solo/group projects. I went by the name "DJ Mental" quoted from Method Man "find out my mental based on instrumentals..." & released a 4-track mixtape called "The Inevitable" it consists of shout-out interludes from mc's I met at the 1999 B-Boy Summit at the UCLA campus & the magic convention. The music consisted of underground artists like Killah Priest, Medusa, Mystik Journeymen, Phoenix Orion/Alien Nation, Zaire Black & June 22, Army Of The Pharaohs, Zion I, Ras Kass, Freestyle Fellowship, Abstract Rude & Others! During this time my brotha from anotha mutha "Ethereal" from Mechanizm released 2 of his own 4-track mixtapes that did well in the underground mixtape circuit. From there the 24 Elderz formed into groups & solo artists like Mechanizm, Kingz In Exile, Earthstonez, & others! 2003... as soon as I obtained a printer/scanner, I thought of an idea to make new covers for all of my new cd mixtapes/compilations for the first time! During the summer of 03' I dropped 5 mixes-"Underground Worldwide" Mixes Vol. 1-4 & "the best of UWM1-4". Most of them were distributed to friends & fans @ the Krs One show 2001 at the huntridge, as well as other shows. As time progressed, new friends & new groups manifest from the core group of 24 Elderz to create new ideals/sounds for the diverse masses of the worldwide culture of hip hop.Being born a music lover, I was always heavily influenced by the rush of hearing a good song, I live by the inspiring moments of the day/night, & 2Pac "Makaveli" Shakur unfortuneately being asassinated on my birthday violently changed my outlook on my life & where i'm headed... the path of his fans redemption through my music/mixtapes. The music of his MUST live on at all costs... I'm currently working on my 4th consecutive mixtape for the cali untouchable dj's... prepare yourselves... Since 2001, i've been a freelance producer/instrumentalist, working on e.p.'s, beats, & vocals for certain underground hip hop artist/friends from Las Vegas. As of this year...2006, brings a new era in my music career... creating new mixtapes, new equipment, new associates, & new fans to begin the countdown to a bigger year to come, 2007-the year of september tha 7th!!!!!!!
P.S.
