Girl About Town

About Me

I scored a 100% on the "How New Orleans are You?" Quizie! What about you?

Geaux Tigers

I'm originally from New Orleans, living in Brooklyn now (thank you, Katrina). I love horror movies, hate romance movies, love comedy, hate drama. I put Tony Chachere's on EVERYTHING. Since New Yorkers don't know what that is, I'm known to drop a bottle off at every restaurant I frequent, just so it's there whenever I need it (my boyfriend doesn't allow me to carry it in my purse anymore). I'm coonass, not country. More than likely, you don't know what a New Orleans accent sounds like, so don't tell me I don't sound like I'm from there. We don't sound like we just walked off the set of Steel Magnolias OR Deliverance. Sadly, however, "shive", "humbra", "beaucoup" (dictionary.com, sucka) & "ya dig" have wandered out of my vocabulary. They are missed. I won't eat at Cracker Barrel, but I will stop at any and every corner store or gas station in South Louisiana 'cause that's where you get the best po'boys & fried oysters (and precanned Jim Beam & Coke). If you cheer for Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, any team in the PAC-10 (especially USC) or any team in the Big 10 (especially Ohio St.), I will hate you for life. This is one of the many reasons why I'll never win enough electoral college votes to be president...Ohio & Florida can kiss it! Sorry, America.

Betty Boop and Lil' Red Riding Hood...My, what big EYES you have, Lil' Red Riding Hood!

I love that I'm both of them, it's actually very true. You Are Bert
Extremely serious and a little eccentric, people find you loveable - even if you don't love them!
You are usually feeling: Logical - you rarely let your emotions rule you
You are famous for: Being smart, a total neat freak, and maybe just a little evil
How you life your life: With passion, even if your odd passions (like bottle caps and pigeons) are baffling to others The Sesame Street Personality Quiz CK HERE TO GET A PRE-MADE MYSPACE LAYOUT

My Interests

I LOVE LSU FOOTBALL!!! "It's not just football..." I really LOVE to dance, and I really wish I could sing. Therefore, I annoy many of my friends and coworkers.

I'd like to meet:

Dita Von Teese, because she's the most fabulous woman on the planet. (We have one major thing in commom - she, too, believes Ugg boots are hideous and shouldn't be worn by females. Thanks, Dita. I knew I wasn't alone on that one.) John Legend and Harry Connick, Jr!!!! I don't know what I would do if I actually did meet them, though. My heart would probably explode. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THEM! They're my unicorns. God, thank you for giving us those men. Sexy, smart, funny, and talented...thank you. I'm a sucker for a piano player. People who choose Letterman over Leno. If I have to explain why, we shouldn't be friends. People who hate Titanic as much as I did (or any over-blown, retarded romance story that aids women on their dillusional journey to find what Hollywood says "love" is). I'm also probably the only girl on Earth who can't stand Grey's Anatomy. So, if you're a girl who stays in just to watch it, or a dude, we will probably disagree on many things about life. I'd also like to hang out with Louis C.K. He's one of the funniest guys alive. (3/23/08 see my photos from work!!!!!)

So Betty Boop and Wonder Woman walk into a bar...

Music:

Everything but country (after dating a guy from Tennessee for over a year now, I can report I like country even less than I originally did because now I actually have to listen to it) Anyone that works with me knows I can listen to Stevie Wonder, Prince, John Legend and Justin ALL DAY LONG! I'm currently going through a severe Bruce Springsteen phase in an attempt to revisit the happiest moments of my childhood. I'm going through an "anything from New Orleans" phase, as well, to hold on to my roots. Harry Connick, Jr. is the love of my life. New York is crazy and not nearly as fun as home. They just don't seem to appreciate DJ Jubilee the way they should. Plus, a little bit of Dr. John and the Rebirth Brass Band is always good for you. I know all the words to way too many Weird Al songs (thank you, Brothers Gaudet). I love George Clinton, Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Marc Anthony, Luis Miguel, Lil' Wayne, Nas, Ludacris, Billy Joel, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Allman Brothers, Rick James, Amy Winehouse, Robin Thicke, The Fugees, Outkast, Cee-Lo, Kelis, Raphael Saadiq, Erykah Badu, Partners N Crime, Elton John, Cash Money for making that booty shakin stuff you can't get up north! I'm a huge Mozart fan as well. (musical ADD)

Movies:

SNAKES ON A PLANE and THE DANCING OUTLAW! I love anything with Al Pacino (I forgive "Devil's Advocate" for Keanu Reeves) or John Leguizamo. The Princess Bride, Spaceballs, The Holy Grail, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Wayne's World, UHF, Ghostbusters I and II, Dumb and Dumber, Anchorman,"V" for Vendetta, Seven, 12 Monkeys, Devil's Rejects, Kill Bill, Snatch, Forrest Gump, Die Hard, Reservoir Dogs, Usual Suspects, The Fifth Element, Interview with a Vampire, Ray, What About Bob?, Star Wars (but only Episodes IV-VI), Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Edward Scissorhands, 28 Days Later, Halloween, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Batman(Keaton & Bale), Amadeus, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Godfather I and II (we ignore III). I do actually own all 3, yes there are 3, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies, and that officially makes me the coolest person on earth (so suck it Nathan, with your five, arguably six, world records)

Television:

Comedy Central Presents Lisa Landry. Very proud of my West Bank girl. She's a top friend and HILARIOUS! Y'all should check her out. The Daily Show, Scrubs, The Colbert Report, Letterman, Conan, Entourage, Flight of the Concords, Alf, SNL (in the good ol' days with crazy protractor chin, Deep Thoughts and Tiny Elvis). I watch MSNBC in between all of that. Everyone should own "The Best of Will Farell" from SNL if for no other reason than to watch Robert Goulet singing hip-hop classics and the deleted skit of the old prospector. I also LOVE Thundercats, He-Man, She-Ra, and other old cartoons that girls who wear false eyelashes shouldn't watch.

Books:

"1 Dead in Attic" by Chris Rose. Right now reading "Freakonomics". It's a mission of mine to read anything Jack Handey ever wrote - Deep Thoughts, Fuzzy Memories, etc. I've read most, so I think that's one mission I can proudly accomplish before I die. I own "America the Book" but I haven't read the whole thing. What parts I have gotten through are definitely the funniest things ever put in print.

Heroes:

My daughter because she is amazingly strong and wise for her young age, my grandmother because she was the most awesome and beautiful little woman ever, my dad for being his "crazy white boy" self and not caring who liked it, Sandra Dowling for opening her home to an evacuee she didn't know and allowing me to restart my life, and Batman.

Love of my life

My little hero

Ok, so the Papal visit and the coverage of it has got me thinking. First, I was pretty pissed because MSNBC interrupted "Hardball". I likes my "Hardball"...A LOT.  But I found myself quickly take...

The Way You Look Tonight

This was something I came across because of my mild obsession with John Legend...which made it even more meaningful. This brought me back to my senior year at St. John’s. As a film student, I ha...

Comedy Central, where has all your money gone?

What's going on at Comedy Central when the "Big, Big Movie" is Black Sheep?  Can't use some Daily Show dollars to at least get Tommy Boy?

Is the viewing public REALLY that stupid?

Based on the crap that's aired on TV nowadays, it's easy to see how dumb the American public is.  Or maybe it can be argued that our lives are so stressful, we need to vegetate in front of the TV...
