SOMETHING EMOTIONAL: I played bass on this track in January of last year in LA for Vanessa's album Somewhere in the real world, a nice moogy bass approach is what we was going for.
MY PROBLEM IS YOU: I also played bass on this track in January of last year in LA for Vanessa's album Somewhere in the real world at the home of producer Dave tyson out in Agoura hills... We were going for a busy but smooth bass line on this...Nice memories...
HYPOCRITE: I played bass on a few recordings for joe a few years ago which were just demos and ideas... and this one ended up on the album LIMESTONE which he told me about a few months ago.
HOME: I played bass and acoustic guitar on this track for the Electro Funk Lovers remix version of Katie Noonans Skin Album titled SECOND SKIN. I also Play Acoustic guitar and bass on WHO ARE YOU, all guitars on ONE STEP and bass on SUNSHINE.
TRACKS IVE WRITTEN AND CO-WRITTEN:
TURN TO ME: This song was co written by myself,Vanessa and Paul Cecchinelli. It was released on the album of the same name in 2001 and also released on the European version of THE POWER.
I first started playing acoustic guitar when i was 8, we had guitars laying around in my house cos my dad was in a latin band here in melbourne[one of the first in melbourne as the latin community was tiny back then in the early 70s]. He was a keyboard/ guitar player who also sang in his band and only a few years ago i found out he started off playing bass guitar back in south america.
When i was 10 i was a bit bored with myself, my brother and my dad all playing acoustic guitar in jam sessions so i wanted to learn bass... oh yeah!
My earliest influence in music has to be the Beatles. When i was 5 my parents would place me in front of the stereo with my headphones on cos i wanted to listen to them... so i would go through all their albums on tape... all day... and sing along... and pretend to play. From there i heard my dads favourite artist... Santana... then from my brothers influence i heard David Bowie... Prince... Van Halen... etc
My first band here was being in a rock band when i was 12. We played songs from billy idol, Misfits, Chisel, Metallica, Danzig, The cure, zeppelin... you get the drift. From there i took on my first band leader role in a Santana cover band called Abraxas at 15 which kept me busy during my high school years... From their i began getting work for other bands while not really wanting to be a freelance bass player but i enjoyed it and love it to this day...
While doing sessions around melbourne in the pub circuit, playing night clubs and frequently recording for independant bands who needed bass players through a friends studio i moved to my main gig... Vanessa amorosi.
I joined her band in 98... just when she was making it big here in Australia... so i definately was walking into a gig which i had pretty much dreamed of all my life. We started touring all around Australia, jumping on support bills and finally started travelling over seas to England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China doin her own shows and huge summer festivals.
I still love my main gig with Vanessa, how can i not when you have a great sounding bunch of musicians who play well together and are basically a family... wouldn't change it for anything. I do the majority of my song writing with her and the boys from the band and just love having musak as a career/ passion...
