I started singing from the age of four. Ever since I can remember my dad had been in a band so there was always music, singing, parties and jam sessions at our house. My parents also had a restaurant so I would be the "floor show" with the band every Saturday night and get up and sing a couple of songs from the time I was 5 years old. It was then that I was sent to the Johnny Young Talent School and thats when it became clear that singing is what I was born to do.I started learning the piano when I was 7. I absolutely hated it but dad had gone and spent the money to buy one so someone had to learn to play it. He stood over me each night and made me practise for hours on end while I mumbled profanities under my breath. Now that I'm older I secretly thank him for what he made me go through simply for the musical knowledge that I know will always have under my belt.I joined dad's band when I was 14, singing and playing keys. It was the best work experience I could have had playing music up to 3 times a week with what I thought to be "old geezers" in their mid forties. Since then, I've worked with a lot of people in the music industry. I was part of a n r&b duo called Soul Class about 8 years ago which got signed to Molly Meldrums label Melodian and gave me an invaluable insight into how the music industry operates. It was a great learning curve and enabled me to cross paths with so many different people in the industry like other artists, producers, songwriters, musos, record industry executives, media personalities etc. These days I'm running the family curry puff manufacturing business with my brother and sister which takes up more time than I like but hey, we all gotta earn a crust. On the music front, the last few years I've just been working with different people, doing studio session work mainly. I've been working with talented all round musician, singer and songwriter Ken Auriant and his family and the Greensborough Seventh Day Adventist Church in a group called Quietstorm. We do youth events around Victoria singing gospel music, both covers of great gospel artists and originals that Ken has written or co-written. These aren't paid gigs but I love doing them for the simple fact that I work with a great bunch of people and I lose myself in the music 'cos that's where my roots are. (No, I'm not a christian or seventh day adventist bible basher or anything like that. It's all about the music....)The gig front has been very quiet of late. I do gig every now and then but I'm looking to find more gigs. Unfortunately I don't have a music myspace page 'cos I don't have any of my own originals (that I'm proud of) to put on the page and everything else I've done has just been sessions of other people's originals. My aim this year is get out there and get a few more gigs. It sure beats the day job!!
