PATRICIA ZARATE : Born and raised in Chile, came to the US at age 20. Graduated from Berklee College of Music with a bachelors degree and received her master's degree in jazz performance and composition from New York University (NYU) in 2003 thanks to the Alberto Vilar Fellowship For The Performing Arts. Some of her music teachers include Jerry Bergonzi, James Moody, and Jackie McLean. Patricia has taught saxophone at Howard University, world music at University of Maryland, music therapy and improvisation in Chile and Panama. She has participated in events such as Havana Jazz Festival, San Salvador Jazz Festival, Panama Jazz Festival, Mount pleasant Jazz Festival, DC, among others. She currently works as a freelance saxophone player, as Director of Education and Scholarship for the Danilo Perez Foundation, Board-Director of the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center, and works for the Non-Profit JazzBoston.
