Let There Be Light

About Me

WHERE DO I START!!! lol
I first got interested in making musicwhen I was 12. I used to have this old time keyboard like a Casio or sutten that I was learning to read music on. I didn't have the patience to with that and found it alot easier to play by ear (why I've done so many rips lol). So after about a year, I got rid of that keyboard and got a better one followed by a Akai sampler, sequencer and then my decks. Then I stared working hard on my own productions. Listening back, my first tracks sound mash up now lol. Sounded all good at the time though ;)
I started producing House/Dance and because of my age, I got quite alot of interest from labels like Cheeky Records. They sent me some of their artist's work back to listen to which helped me move forward.
I carried on producing and actracting attention from labels but sadly not enough for a signing.
Early 1999, I met a promoter called Michelle who ran nights at the Marcus Garvey Centre in Nottingham. She had a listen through my work and gave me my 1st ever booking aged 15. Will never forget that lol! 10pm-12pm playing techno/trance. The set went well and listening was one of the top Old School DJs from back in the day, Nebula II.
He liked what I was doing and I started working with him as well as playing at his nights, A.N.D. which were also held at Garvey. Played along side DJ's such as Ade Fenton and Nebula II himself.
While this was happening, I was introduced to some one on a different scene, DJ Rush from 1 of the UK's leading Hardcore nights, Vibealite. That mans BAD at scratching/turntablism and influenced me to be a cut above the rest. He started taking me to some of the venues he was playing at and, over the next year, introduced me to alot of new faces (Brisk, Sy, Fergus from Selecta, Gary Vibealite ect)
I saw Mark EG for the first time lol. Telling you that guys MAD!!!!! :0
Early 2000 I got a I got a record deal with EMI in Japan (while still at school). I produced tracks for the Speed Dance Mania compilations (Vol 5-10) spanning the next four years. They also took tracks from an album I had put together but didn't take off.
Things were looking up! I played my first Old School set just before christmas along side the Rat Pack. OI OIIIII!!! A wicked night! Place was RAMMED! ;)
January 2001, I got a residency with Vibealite playing Hardcore, Trance & Hard House up and down the country (Euporiam-Leicester, Area 51-Sheffield, Adelphi-Sheffield, Fantasy Island, Skegness....) I played some wicked places and met all kinds of people which led to more bookings (Dizstruxshon, Reveloution....) I also got a summer residency at the Palias night club, Mansfield.
I also played alot up in Scotland for a night call Ibiza Mania from 2002-2003. Had some good times up there. Running through Scotland wid my record box lol.
At the end of both 2001 and 2002 NYE, I played Fantasy Island, playing the last hour of the year 2002. Telling you, the guys behind that night put some effort into that! Best two NYE's I've ever had. The place was banging! Even when I took the needle off the wrong record LOL! :D
Mid 2003 I had a track accepted on Quosh Records, "No More Jokin" which was released Feb 2004 and had a DJ Sy and Unknown remix on the flip side. The track was featured on Bonkers XI as well as other compilations.
I stared playing and then gained another residency at a Hardcore nigh, "Rush Hour" and continued to played along side the best Hard Dance DJs in the UK as well as my other bookings.
I did a warm up set for Lange early 2004 which was all good cuz I've always like his productions and tracks.
Things have pretty much stayed on the same level, getting regular bookins and always producing new tracks. I played my 1st Bassline House sets last year @ Air in Birmingham at a night called Raveology. GRIMEY lol.
Thats me. ;)
