About Me

I'm a Husband, father, author and food writer. So how does a guy get a nickname like The Deck Chef? Build a deck, buy grills and smokers, transfer your cooking skills to the back porch. Invite your friends over, ask every chef you meet questions, interview meat and three cooks, write some books and go on Food Network and Emeril Live.
Today, you can find me at book events and cooking events in Chattanooga and across the country. You can also read my articles in Racing Milestones Magazine, The Barbecue News, The Chattanoogan and other select publications. Visit me online at www.thedeckchef.com

Kent and his wife Ally live in East Tennessee with one son, Macee (Macy) who still brags about the time he beat his dad in a recipe contest. Kent also has a Golden Retriever named Moses and a Shitzu named Barney who is the light of his mothers eyes.
