MyGen Profile GeneratorRick established himself in 1995 when he was the very first Bedroom Bedlam d.j. for the now defunct Musik Magazine where he got the chance to D.J. in Scotland at The Tin Pan Alley alongside Percy X of Soma Records fame, at Heaven (London) alongside Grooverider and Rob Da Bank and Cream [ahem!] alongside Underworlds Darren Emerson. A young Andrew Weatherall read the article along with being given some tapes (old skool) by Rick at Andrews Sabresonic II night and Andrew offered Rick the chance of a residency at the now seminal BloodSugar night hosted at The Blue Note [London] alongside Andrew and Alex Knight and he held that residency down until the clubs demise (sadly). Another residency soon followed for the Universe Promoters who ran a night at The Complex (London) entitled Voyager where Rick played alongside Richie Hawtin, James Pennington, Joey Beltram, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Dave Angel, Colin Dale, Carl Cox and Steve Bicknell. In 1997 Rick played at The Voyager/Mean Fiddler promoted Tribal Gathering event which was held at the Luton Hoo in Bedfordshire where the headliners were the amazing Kraftwerk alongside a whole host of luminaries from the dance arena. He was also resident alongside friend Andrew Curley at the Quadrafunk night based at The Cross Bar also in London where he played alongside Tom Middleton, Russ Gabriel and Ashley Beedle.In 1999-2006 Rick joined forces with Haywire, who looked after all his bookings and also taken care of many a night at their 'Haywire Sessions' parties at various 'hush hush' venues across London where Rick has played alongside The Two Lone Swordsmen, Radioactiveman, Adult., Bolz Bolz, Bass Junkie, Richard D. James, Ed DMX and Tokyo Windbag. He has subsequently played at various nights including The Bomb, Fabric, 93 Feet East, Electrowerks, 333, Plastic People (for Bandulu’ s album launch), The Milk Bar for Carl Cox's Base night, The Sub Club alongside Bios of Jay Denhams' Black Nation Records, The Dogstar for Electrocuted, Twilo in New York City alongside Octave One, Dave Angel, Colin Favour and Brenda Russel, at Sankeys Soap for Bugged Out (a BloodSugar Night)and The Egg alongside Miss Kitten. In 2002 Rick became a member of up and coming party promoters and all round good guys The Outlet Collective who have begun to turn heads with their electrically eclectic parties. Recently Rick has partied and played alongside London promoters the Laser Magentic Crew at various disco all-nighters alongside I-F of Viewlexx Records/Cybernetic Broadcasting Systems fame, Spacid of Radius Records [Belgium], Danny Wang [Balihu Records], James Hillard [HorseMeat Disco], Tako the CBS resident mix robot and many an all-dayer alongside Orson Bramley [Transparent Sound], Pete Herbert & Phil Mison [Reverso 68] and Richard Sen [Bronx Dogs/Padded Cell]. Recently Rick played alongside many of the folk who inhabit the universe of the Cybernetic Broadcasting System....he had a ball doing it!!His style of mixing has developed since the 80’s when he was a young Hip Hop deejay who fell into the Acid House boom by accident but a love of all things deep, weird, electronic, filthy and phunky has always been prevalent. Rick’s style of mixing has always been that of fluid beat mixing with plenty of eq-ing dropping everything from Electro, Hip Hop, Disco, Italo, Techno and House...
