Jyri Palmu - our brother-in-arms and friend - passed away on 29th of June from heart failure at the age of 29. Jyri will be remembered as a great friend and as the one who pounded the war-drum for Antipope from the beginning to the last days of his life.

Antipope is a Finnish extreme heavy metal band from Oulu. Antipope was formed in the summer of 2004. Antipope started as a three piece studio project (S. Heinilehto-bass, M. Myllykangas guitar+vocals and J. Palmu drums), but after recieving positive feedback from those who heard Antipope material band decided to get a guitarist to be able to perform live. J. Rikberg joined the band as a guitarist in the autumn of 2005.
Yet another guitarist, A. Karjalainen, was recruited in 2008 to sharpen Antipope's live edge.
Jyri Palmu, the drummer of Antipope, died from heart failure in late June 2008. Currently the band is looking for a new drummer.
Antipope's music is energitic amalgam of heavy metal and black metal with references to other styles of music.
