He grew up in gutta environment by the concrete jungle of ZONA B-5 - his neighbourhood, notorious with its gangsters and drug dealers. He started listenin' to hip hop music when he was 12 and was heavily influenced by west coast artists, mainly Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and 2Pac. Mechoka lost his parents and in the struggle for a better life was inspired to become a rap artist. He had the luck of meeting Ghettoman, frontman of the famous rap group HORATA OT GETOTO(GHETTO PEOPLE), who noticed his talent and added him to the roster of his GHETTO PRODUCTIONS label, an independent hip hop label, whose main politics is to turn hip hop into a business for young artists in BG, as this genre is not supported by major labels as in USA. MECHOKA released his first video "Vdigni O4i"("Raise Your Eyes" - a different way of saying raise your head) from his debut album, "MOIATA KARTINA"("MY PICTURE"), an album focusing on the everyday struggle and the search for hope. MECHOKA is currently working on his second album "GLADNA MECHKA HORO NE IGRAE" scheduled for release on 13 OCT 2008. The title is a Bulgarian saying literally meaning "A hungry bear does not dance".
