The City Watch

A brief conversation between three men

About Me

Described as "timeless" The City Watch blend their morass of instruments into a sound equal parts folk-rock and indie. Accordions, trumpets, guitars, pianos and xylophones wander through songs that reflect the perfectly ordinary and the perfectly extraordinary alike.
After gracing stages and airwaves throughout 2006 and 2007 The City Watch open 2008 with their debut release 'A brief conversation between three men'. The EP is available now at 78 Records, Dada's and wherever you find us.
"The City Watch join the ranks of that growing local faction of pleasurable indie-pop folk collectives along with Institut Polaire and New Rules For Boats. Much like their local counterparts, The City Watch and their references to distant worlds draw you into a beautiful fantasy free of evil and hardship. Metaphorical descendants of Dylan, this six-piece lulls you into a melodious sense of security through gorgeous sounding rhythms as you hug yourself and sway; eyes closed grinning stupidly within a melodic cocoon of emotional well-being." - SINGLE OF THE WEEK REVIEW (Drum Media, Perth)
"Delivering a fantastic indie-pop set that featured trumpets, percussion, strange keyboards and even a piano accordion over the top of the more standard rhythm section, the five-piece looked as though they were having the fun of a primary school music class, and yet played like established musicians."
