About Me

ENGINEER RECORDS PRESS RELEASE
"FOR THOSE LOST This is our fight! CD IGN085."
Ripping through the skin of both metalheads and hardcore kids alike, FOR THOSE LOST can justifiably be called true 'cross-over kings.
With buzz-saw intensity and pounding rhythms, interspaced with dynamic guitar leads and a clear cut vocal style, FOR THOSE LOSTs musicianship and attention to detail is pushed to the forefront. The tracks on this debut CD are just so strong. There is no sing-screaming-formula, just an honest, powerful voice over music that upgrades guitar noise and beats-per-minute to near cacophony. Listen to tracks "A Promise Made" or "Walk To The Sun" and youll notice nods towards metal-core powerhouses such as SICK OF IT ALL, THE BANNER and EDEN MAINE and throughout there is aggressive rifforama that SLAYER, MASTODON or even xCANAANx would be proud of.

The title, 'This is our fight!' comes from a MADBALL lyric everyone has their own fight and FOR THOSE LOST are clearly ready for a fight, or ready to bring everyone together. Masters of the live stage and feeding off the energy of their sell-out audiences, FOR THOSE LOST are Engineer Records new torch carriers for the metal-core genre. Joining a label that already boasts successful releases by UK acts SON OF THE MOURNING, CANAAN, LOSING SIX SECONDS, EDEN MAINE, WINTER IN JUNE, NINE DAYS TO NO ONE, UROTSUKIDOJI, SIX SECOND HERO and STEEL RULES DIE. The tradition continues and the bar keeps getting raised.

FTL - This is our fight!

For fans of: SICK OF IT ALL, CANAAN, BANE, GRADE, EDEN MAINE, SNAPCASE, AGNOSTIC FRONT, MADBALL, GIVE UP THE GHOST, etc.

REVIEWS:

"Nine tracks of beats-per-minute-exploding-into-cyber-space and metallic guitar riffs galore. "I smile at your terror" goes through several sections, sounding a bit like Rage Against The Machine at one point (though never so glorious). Other tracks build the guitar chug up to a screaming climax, paying close attention to detail. The singing - well I say singing - more of a frantic lung shredding holler, is not to everyone's tastes, but for fans of bands such as Sick of It All, it'll be just what the doctor ordered. In "case against you" the guitar follows the vocals longingly, as if frantically chasing it as he yells "you'll never be the same again", which then leads into a splendid blurry fingered twinkling metal solo. massive energy here, a pounding rhythm section, clawing and scratching out their cacophony of guitar noise and playing like speedy mofos: strictly for fans of hardcore/metal"

"CD this is our fight it`s my first contact with For Those Lost. Band was born in south England on the end of 2001. On the end of 2005 band joined to Engineer Records Familly and this record label realized their debut album This Is Our Fight (title comes from madball liryc (.everyone has their own fight." ). Cd consist 9 tracks what gives us about 30 minut music. You`ll find on this cd strong riffs and break-downs rythms, dynamic guitars, many interesting patents, a little bit broken sounds and a little bit of chaos (only in several numbers). Two great guitars made this music suppy and ful lof energy. Solo guitar and drumset parts are worth of your attention because they`re interesting and great composed with rest of the instruments. Tracks compositions are not schematic and very varied. A lot tempo changes, they don`t extend songs for infinity and what is most important conception what they play made this cd very interesting and not boring and not wearisome.I takeed notice for a singer and his singing style. This is not only steady intestinal scream or throaty gurgle. There is no very popular last times mixing scream with clean vocal. Frontman voice is strong and natural, his manner is changing a lot of times in every song and everytime is perfectly matching to music background.Altogether we can add to metalcore genre but this cd is very specific and it`s hard to lodge this band to interchangeable definite drawer. When i`m listening this cd i have many comparison to other bands in my head. In my opinion recommend this cd for people who like bands: I defy (not this from germany but this one from usa) Grade or Nora should be right.I must say great cd !!!!!"

"For Those Lost (from UK) are absolutely recommend to hardcore and metalheads kids which love As I Lay Dying, Slayer, Madball and Give Up The Ghost with the right dose of post-core sonorities. "This is our fight (eheh this title is taken from a song of Madball!!!) is For Those Lost's new release out now via Engineer Records (very famous UK based label -with an awesome headquarter also in USA- which own a various roster -emo core, metalcore/noise, hardcore..-): this is an excellent debut, a new one form of unheard metalcore-noise as a good mix between hardcore new school (of Madball and Give Up The Ghost) and post hardcore, as i mentioned already. Super coherent structures, violent breakdowns rhytms, powerful dynamic and destructive riffs with a high radical/sharp voice. Awesome! The tracks Case Against You, Retribution, Half-Truths and The Blue Horizon sound much more metal then others, with pinched guitars metal style, a great double beater pedal on fast and stopped tempos: fans of Slayer and As I Lay Dying will not be disappointed!!That's just the metal genius of For Those Lost!!! Well, telling the truth i expected something really different, just listening the first tracks (i expected hardcore stuff with 'roll and old school as well, however not so fuckin' amusing metal!!!), but the music is a continuous evolution on every song and violence and destruction are the usual elements. This is our Fight is definitely a sublime album standing on the world-wide scene. Buy Or Die!!!Vote: 8.5/10"

"England's FOR THOSE LOST are nothing but intense - this five-piece metallic hardcore act has influences that run the gammut from classic bands like STRIFE and SICK OF IT ALL to more modern creations like ATREYU, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and particularly, THE BANNER. This Is Out Fight! consists of nine guitar-driven tunes, some of which pay homage to the musical gods of "chugga-chugga," and some of which shred (and squeal) with reckless abandon. FOR THOSE LOST definitely take advantage of the fact that they have two guitarists, and rarely do they follow in lock-step. The acrobatic fifth track, "Case Against You" teems with righteous riffing and destabilizing double-bass. This Is Our Fight! benefits from a very lively recording style, one which boxes in the throaty lead vocals to thrive under the surface while the rhythm-section leads the way. Lyrically, FOR THOSE LOST speak in vague metaphors and brief, mostly positive calls for action. This Is Our Fight is one of those releases for me where I find myself so preoccupied with the crankin' music, that I'm more than willing to set aside my ambivalance over the written word. Describing This Is Our Fight! as inventive might be a stretch, but the album's hybrid musical designs are engaging and far more interesting than another thick-headed metalcore release with stagnant Euro riffs and stockroom howls."

"Even the band's name, even the title of their debut record sounds like it comes straight from the street. The difference is, For Those Lost is a tough-guy hardcore group from the gutters of the United Kingdom, not the typical New York and L.A. hotbeds. Like the acts before them, For Those Lost play tight, passionate and confrontational. The chugging speed of "Walk to the Sun," off "This is Our Fight!," is proof of that. Leigh Cripps gives a ferocious vocal performance, punctuated with ganging background singing that doesn't get in the way. Drummer Oli Wiseman is equally aggressive, placing each strike perfectly. But there's more to these pugnacious punks than that. This set has a side to it that's tuneful in its own heavy way. "Grey Day" features brutish blasts that cut to the bone, but serrated soloing from guitarists Neil Perry and Simon Barnard give it another dimension. Likewise the brutal breakdowns comprising "Case Against You" that balance melody with mayhem. "A Promise Made" is haywire hardcore with fist-pumping moments. The mercurial foreboding that opens closer "The Blue Horizon" shows yet another side to this band. Then later an acoustical interlude? A dash of piano? Get outta here. Give For Those Lost credit for their willingness to switch things up and make "This is Our Fight!" as varied and interesting as they can without sacrificing the heaviness. That's something too many streetwise bands are loathe to do."

"Chunky, chuggy heavy metal with a hardcore vocal overlayed. It's crossover metal and core at their best: the aggression and groove of hardcore with the technical dexterity of metal is pushed to great effect. Obvious worshippers at the temple of NYHC, the band are bringing a Brit-metal twist to the East Coast style, and making it thoroughly their own. UK metal might just have been saved! Thank the lord below for For Those Lost! Miss at your peril - head out to catch them on tour at your own risk!"

"WHO: Basingstoke bruisers who sound like a battalion on a march.
WHAT: Ferociously loud, and with a flair for the more technical side of the hardcore scene, by some impressive, punishing drumming and Leigh's top-notch vocals, For Those Lost has already taken the UKHC scene by storm.
WHY: Lets face it, if there was nothing good in Basingstoke, we'd sooner bomb the place.

LIKE: xCanaanx / Bane / Madball"

"Screaming in with a hefty does of Discharge-meets-DRI-meets-Dillinger Escape Plan pure punk rock fury, FTL dont subscribe to the stereotypical melodic hardcore blueprint. Instead they'd rather beat you round the face with it."

"Bordering on melodic hardcore with elements of metalcore, if this record came with one of those 'if you like...' stickers on the front, bands like early Atreyu, Sick Of It All, Grade and Snapcase would certainly get a mention. This is pretty much in-yer-face, spite-filled punk rock with some really meaty riffs. The band carefully get the balance between the hardcore bits and the breakdowns right, with some heavy guitar riffs bursting out of the speakers at times. 'Walk To The Sun's' chugging guitar riff slows nicely into a bass-driven groove as the vocals scream and spit from all corners. With a definite East Coast influence, For Those Lost are well worth a few moments of your time"

"Born in 2002 in the Basingstoke area, South of England, For Those Lost are the union among musicians coming from different bands in the English metal and hardcore scene. This background obviously speaks clear in their music: a furious and technical mix of violent vocals and "sharp as a blade" guitar riffing . To back this venomous blend of pounding hardcore and thrash, they have a dynamic and powerfull rhythm section, able to be on the same time both aggressive and skillfull . yes, we are talking about metal-core, something next to the collapse nowadays, but For Those Lost are able to hit the target due to their incredible technical ability and songwriting maturity. Their secret army is the impressive power of their strike, able to gain them a good position in the metal-core role of honour. What we should love in them, is the completely direct way they use metal influences, offering to the listeners solos and virtuosity, the same many other bands are unable or ashamed to put under the spotlight due to their supposed hardcore nature. For Those Lost talks about metal, a British kinda one, influenced by NWOBHM and thrash, and they released a record able to appeal everyone into this kind of sound. As we are talking about something very common to our ears nowadays, we couldn't ask for better."
