About Me

DJ Dig-Dug is a widely renowned breakbeat DJ/Producer hailing from the Northwestern United States. From the purchase of his first set of turntables in 1995, to his performances in Taiwan; Doug has spent the last decade rising to the forefront of the global breakbeat movement. ______________________________________________________ Over the last 10 years DJ Dig-Dug has been a resident artist for the Northwest’s largest electronic music event production company, USC Events (www.uscevents.com). As an integral part of USCs legendary club nights and parties; Doug contributed not only behind the decks, but behind the scenes as well. As the company's sole breakbeat respresentative, DJ Dig-Dug has made a habit of performing alongside the industrys elite artists. ______________________________________________________ Known for his incredible track selection and polished technical skills, DJ Dig-Dug has managed to develop an undeniably unique style. While his sets often travel through several different types of breaks (Funky, Progressive, Dark, Ragga), the constant barrage of warped basslines and intelligent drum loops unite his signature sound. With impressive beat juggling, cross-fader cutting, and creative manipulation of the Pioneer DJM-600’s onboard effects, DJ Dig-Dug has developed a following based on skills… not hype. ______________________________________________________ In 1997 Doug further defined his sound by beginning to incorporate his collection of rare speed garage records into his DJ sets. The musical genre is famous for layering time-stretched vocals and fierce basslines over a house-style drum loop. Although they’re much harder to find these days, Doug continues to add to his impressive arsenal of speed garage vinyl. By utilizing seamless transitions to combine multiple musical styles, DJ Dig-Dug has separated himself from the rest of the pack. ______________________________________________________ The roots of Dougs production experience can be traced back to his time spent in Florida in early 1998. While there he studied electronic music production under Defcon 6 (aka DJ Hipp-e and Red Void). Together, the three produced “Innerscape", a breakbeat track later released on the Miami-based label, Platinum Groove Entertainment. Doug was addicted to this fusion of music and technology, and later completed an intense Audio Engineering program at Expression Center for New Media in Emeryville, California. Armed with his degree, a Macintosh G5, and a Pro Tools Rig – DJ Dig-Dug now composes and engineers all of his self-produced work inside his personal studio. ______________________________________________________ After 10+ years, DJ Dig-Dug continues to turn heads in the music industry with his growing allegiance of fans and countless performances alongside internationally renowned artists. His latest track “Crowd Control” (featuring lyrics by DJ Swamp) is further proof that his extensive technical training and creative ideas set him apart from the rest. ______________________________________________________
