From rap battling in his high school bathroom and on the back of public buses on his way to the Canal Street game rooms, New Orleans or Nawlins lyricist CREO, has been patiently waiting for his chance to blow.
Born Lamar Williams, CREO (short for Creole), first stepped onto the New Orleans music scene with his 2004 debut underground EP, Got Creo? which elevated his local repute on the streets of East Shore, New Orleans. His unprocessed and supernatural delivery has made him legendary for the Crescent City mantra Whoa Na Fa Sho Na which would translate to Whoa now for sure now. The rapper says, Whenever I go out I would always see people snickering and whispering around me until they finally mustered up the nerve to approach me to ask, Are you Creo? or they say I saw you on that commercial! and I heard you rapping on the radio! and my favorite Keep representing! Creo is definitely here to represent New Orleans. This foundation in the community has paved the way for a tribute to his city on the highly anticipated High Speed Entertainment release, SEAFOOD CITY.
This creation includes Have You Seen Her?, a tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and gives you a warm feeling straight from the heart and soul of someone who had to be evacuated from his hometown twice--once to San Antonio, Texas and then again to Long Beach, California, where he is making a home away from home. On the CDs lead single, Dont Break Up The Fight, Creo pays homage to the notorious reputation of the New Orleans streets. Creo says, From the Uh-Ohh chanting and hand clapping at high school dances or sporting events, to the streets and the nightclubs, everybody knows this is us. This is what we do! It is this street appeal that continues throughout the album with a mega mix of local and nationally acclaimed talent. On the sure fire club hit Do Da Dam Thang we feature the flip mouthed Josephine Johnny: on the raw and uncut Out Che we feature Skip and on the memorable Oh, No He Didnt we feature Wacko: on I See Whatcha Doin we refeature the artistic Josephine Johnny. With all this talent cooking up in one pot SEAFOOD CITY is well seasoned like a New Orleans Gumbo.
Production credits are heralded by super producer Leroy Precise Edwards, Ezell Swang, Don B, and LISTEN AND EXCHANGEM producer Big Ro. Creos SEAFOOD CITY is coming to satisfy your lyrical hunger real soon. For more info contact Darrick(Diesel) at [email protected]
