About Me
With a strong foundation in live music, and a credit of over 30 albums
produced and recorded, Ezell Swang has thrived and excelled in the music
industry for over 15 years. His professional music experience began on the
boisterous world famous Bourbon Street of New Orleans, performing as a
drummer with such artists/singers as Ernie K-Doe, Lenny Williams, Johny
Taylor, and Buddy Ace. Swang’s rhythmic style exemplifies his proven
ability to perform and excel across different genres of music; including jazz,
R&B, and Hip-Hop. However, it is through Hip-Hop that he has chosen to
further his talent and career. In 1997, Ezell Swang produced and recorded entitled CD “I Shed Tears for the World†by rap artist Crazy/Krazy. This album was declared one of the "Best of the Best Top 204 Independent Rap Albums" by Murder Dog Magazine (1998). The popularity of this album captured the interest of southern rap artist and entrepreneur Master P.,which led to the production of several No Limit rap projects/albums by Ezell Swang. These projects include the 504 Boyz’ platinum album “Goodfellasâ€; Mr. Marcelo’s “Brick Livin'â€, and album “Play Like Us†by Lil’ Romeo. Source Magazine’s music critic and editor Charlie Braxton (2000) cited Swang’s work “Roll Roll†as one of the tracks on the Goodfellas album that gave listeners the same feeling of intensity experienced in the primal era of No Limit. Vibe Magazine’s Donnie Kwak (2003) cited Swang’s production, of “Everywhere I Go†by newcomer Currency, as one of the hottest songs on the 504 Boyz' “Baller†album.
More recently, Ezell Swang teamed with producer SugaBear to create the production duo Da’ BeatBoyz. Together these producers worked collaboratively on both regional and national albums and recently released their independent project “From the Ground Up.†This compilation CD, featuring rappers Shadow and Currency and R&B starlet Sweetie, is a unique blend of hard core rap, southern style “spittin’,†laced with smooth and soulful R&B.Yet Ezell Swang continues to explore different facets of the music industry. The song “Oh No†was recently featured in the Harrison Ford film Hollywood Homicide and over 20 of his newest tracks are licensed for the
production of MTV’s 2004 fall season episodes of Punk’d, Making the Video, Pimp My Ride, and MTV’s upcoming series My New Best Friend, Your Face or Mine, Ashton Kutcher ‘s Date My Mom, and VH1’s Bands Reunited. Because of Swang's diverse experience in the music industry, including both film and mainstream Hip-Hop, coupled with his hands-on experience as a drummer, Swang anticipates using his expertise in revealing a new revolution in music.
