In a world where the ever lengthening fringe is becoming the leading cause of vision impairment, and where music has more bree’s than the local piggery, Launceston based 4 piece HALFMAST is a band not afraid to stick to their convictions and do what they do best; play punk rock music. Play it fast. And play it LOUD.
After over 6 years tearing up stages across Tasmania, Halfmast have well and truly established themselves as one of the states most lively and enjoyable outfits. Their brand of fast, loud, hardcore punk infused hard rock has seen them share the stage with local bands like Stand Defiant, The Scandal and Ballpoint, as well as interstate acts like The Go Set, Stolen Youth, Ill Starred Captain, Daysworth Fighting, Of The Night, Lungs and Between The Devil And The Deep. But by far the highlight of their career thus far came in 2005, when they shared the stage with long time influences and cornerstones of the 90s So-Cal punk movement; No Use for a Name.
In 2007, Halfmast unleashed their sophomore recording “6 Years… 12,000 Beers†upon the public. 6 Years is nine tracks of loud, in-your-face and fun-as-hell punk rock beats to make you move yo’ feets. This record showcases the vast spectrum of the Halfmast riff machine, with elements ranging from balls-out hard rock and metal, to straight up punk rock, to jazz, to incessant German ramblings ..
