When you think about music from the Midwest, you think of names like R. Kelly, Bow Wow, and Kanye West. These people have solidified and staked their claim to the top of the music world as we know it. Well, as the Midwest continues to rise, many names are starting to pop up and chip away at the top of the music industry. One name in particular that has been tossed around the Midwest music scene is the name JL. This 23 year old R&B phenom has hit the scene hard with hits such as Dont Stop, and the controversial Sex. He has staked his own claims in the capital city of Columbus and has started to make his way throughout the entire Midwest and soon the US.

Raised Jeremy Leonard, this small town kid was introduced to music at a very early age. When he was 5 he was already singing for his church and for different events around his area. Growing up in the small town of Martins Ferry, Ohio, there were not a lot of opportunities for this child to really shine. Sports soon took over his life as he was growing up until he found his heart again one day in high school.

--I never thought that I was ever going to come back to my first love, then all of a sudden, I was deep into it again,-- Leonard explains.

JL decided to make a big move and put all of his effort back into his music. During this time of finding himself, he hooked up with producer/manager, John L. Rish of Size 10 Productions out of Columbus. From then on Rish and Leonard have been a force to reckon with when it comes to music. JL and Rish have put on shows around the state of Ohio including an opening act for pop sensation Usher in 2002.

JL dropped his first LP --On The Low-- on June 15th 2005 and finally put his name on the music scene. From then on JL has been performing and shattering any obstacle in his way and will continue to until his star shines bright on the world.
