..Vic. are a five piece band from Dublin who have been together as a five piece since November of 2005. The band started out with lead singer Dan Fox, bassist Peter Wallace and drummer Robin Meredith who were all in school together and performed at various talent shows and mates' parties. In the autumn of 2004 with the lads all in college, Richie Margetson joined as lead guitarist and the band set about writing their own material. A relaxed approach was taken until late 2005, when the band recruited multi-instrumentalist Billy Campbell to round
out their sound. After a series of warm-up gigs in this new line-up, Vic. played their first proper gig on Valentine's Day 2006 in front of an eager crowd in Slattery's of Capel Street. Gigging continued for the next few months, taking in venues such as Eamonn Doran's and Radio City. In May, the band completed their first recording 'The Ashtown Sessions EP' which was a raw sample of their distinctive rock sound, coupled with original strings. The band took a break for the summer, though Dan Fox and Peter Wallace continued to perform as a two-piece during their j1 trip to Hawaii. The lads caused quite a stir on the islands, leading to an interview with Maui Entertainment Weekly in which they were praised as 'the best entertainment on Maui'.Following the summer, Vic. returned with a new enthusiasm and determination. Their first post-summer gig was played to a packed crowd in the Cavern and confirmed their status as an up and coming band on the unsigned Dublin scene. This triumphant homecoming was followed by gigs at various other venues throughout the city including Radio City, Sugar Club, UCD Student Bar, the Village and the premier Dublin venue, Whelan's.In January of 2007, Vic. packed themselves off to Orion Studios in Blessington for a few days to record their second EP. This was a new and exciting experience for the band and culminated in the re-recording of fan's favourites 'Mistake' and 'All I See Is' along with a new track, the energetic and passion fuelled 'When It Breaks'.Vic. continued gigging around Dublin for the rest of the college year, also taking in a stint down in Limerick. With the onset of summer and the subsequent exodus of a gig-going public, Vic. decided to devote the summer to writing new material in order to hit the scene with renewed vigour in September. Be sure to check out the lads when they get back out on the road this autumn. In the meantime, you can stop by their myspace or bebo band page at:
