Tha Carolina Kid

About Me

“DJ D NYCE……RESPECT HIS GRIND” Welcome to the world of DJ D NYCE a.k.a Tha Carolina Kid or if you know him from back in the day, DJ Good Boy from Good Street. This N. Charleston High School grad went from growing up in Liberty Park to now living in a nice house in the burbs. You will see him on the scene rockin’ the latest VNJ Designs (custom made t-shirts that you may also see on some ATL based rap artists), Red Monkey Jeans, hand crafted Nike’s with the swoop sparkling in glitter, he’s laced in diamond jewelry and hangin’ with the hottest celebs in the entertainment industry. NYCE is the streets DJ, chasing paper and using his incredible business skills to make the right connections. Averaging a 60-70 hour work week, D NYCE won’t sleep until he gets his piece of the “American Dream.” Since the age of 15, NYCE decided to follow in his father’s footsteps to find his way through his love for music. His dedication was so strong that he opted to DJ his own prom instead of attending with his fellow classmates! In 1996-2002, D took on the city of Atlanta when he was hand picked to intern with Atlanta’s 1 radio station HOT 97.5. During his internship, he learned the in’s and out’s of radio engineering and was mentored on the art being an effective radio DJ/personality. NYCE took those lessons one step further and began to win over crowds in the Atlanta club scene. He created a fan base with not only his gift to move crowds on the 1’s and 2’s, but with his captivating personality that draws people to him. He created a buzz and people began to ask about this unknown talent; the response was: “Yo that’s that kid from Carolina!” and the name THA CAROLINA KID stuck with him. Armed with the knowledge and experience from Atlanta, NYCE returned to Charleston and ripped the radio on HOT 98.9 and Z93 Jamz for 6 years. Early 2008, he left the Z93 family to pursue entrepreneurial projects and focus on his company Ice Cream Productions, LLC with partner and long time friend T-Rock. NYCE has an impressive list of accomplishments which include: • Four appearances on BET’s Rap City • Lead DJ for the 6 month “Survival of the Illest” Tour featuring DMX, Foxy Brown, EPMD, Red Man/Method Man and ONYX • Concert and Sound Support for: Lil Wayne, Mobb Deep, Lil Kim, Lost Boyz, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Rough Riders (Bike Week 2008)…the list goes on • Worked alongside Kid Capri • Sponsored events featuring: Lil Boosie, Trick Daddy, Buffy the Body, Shay BUCKEY Jhonson (from Flavor of Love 2), Fox, 3 Deep, Fat Joe and Jim Jones • Under his company Ice Cream Productions, brought the 1st Annual Black Out Party and the first ever Virgo Birthday Bash ft. Mr. Cheeks, both events attracting crowds of more than 1,000 people! • Community activities include: Healthy Hoops for children, Cancer Foundation, and Make a Wish Foundation And many more….. So, at 2am when the lights come up in the club and the floor is covered with beer bottles and plastic cups, when you are on your 9 to 5 and your work week makes you want to get to the club on the weekend, or if your life just calls for some excitement or entertainment….know that there is a DJ out there working hard to bring you the best parties and the hottest artists in the nation. When you see him on the block or around the way..show some luv, say “wassup”, support his events, know that he has love for his community, but most of all RESPECT HIS GRIND!!!
