About Me

...... WHO ARE THOSE BRIGHT COLORED ONES FROM HOLLAND: Red to Violet are singer EL Martens and guitarist Onno Lakeman... idealists, vegetarians, mind & soul searchers... below sealevel we looked for lasting matching music partners, we looked across the pond and had a Californian fling... in the end we were brought back to ourselves..................... so this is the band we said. ok, so we've found what we've been looking for... yes, we write, record, produce and promote our CDs and occasionally ask other friends from our below sealevel area to help out by pounding rhythmically, cos this is something we like but cannot play. for the rest we make the sounds you hear. life is an adventure, it is....................... our style might be hard to describe, as in fact every manmade music is unique, but capturing formats one might say there is some late Janis Joplin, Alanis Morissette edge in the vocals, mixed with Pretenders Chrissie Hynde vocal depth (anyway, reviewers often mentioned this...) ok, maybe some late John Lennon lyrics and R.E.M. Michael Stipe alternative melodies, Dandy Warhols excentrics, U2 Bono idealism mixed with INXS late Michael Hutchence vocal bends. but there's also a James Morrison singer/songwriter approach to be found, Eagles influenced acoustic guitar progressions and harmonies, Red Hot Chili Peppers raw edge, with free Jimmy Page Led Zeppelin guitars and Coldplay atmosphere and licks... here and there edgy Green Day guitars..................if our music can touch people, can contribute in some sort of way to your life, then we are well on our way. a legendary bluesman once said: 'success is not about shifting 100.000 CDs to the stores, it's about bringing your music to 1 person at a time...' he was right. we hope our music touches you in some way. if you want to leave some feedback concerning our music, please do. or if you have a question about our recordings, bring it to us ..................................... NEW RELEASE: electric/acoustic CD-album 'Surrender to the Unknown' (produced by RtV, mastered at Xtreamaudio NY). 13 brandnew tracks on STTU... BUY PER TRACK on this page from the Snocap / Myspace store. or buy from http://cdbaby.com/cd/redtoviolet2 or any store like MTV shop, VH1 shop... thank you ...... REVIEWS:'Made me think of John Lennon's Imagine... strong vocals, great guitar and interesting lyrics. Very good album' (Bruce von Stiers for BVSreviews.com) 'The best indie CD I've heard!' (STTU cd-buyer and musician Alan Kirk, Canada) 'Soulful, deep, a true masterpiece... STTU makes them serious contenders for Band of the Year' (Radio DJ Tony Bates, 100.7 Highlands FM, Victoria, Australia) 'Your music would work well in TV/film' (Amy Fritz, Belmont music supervisor, Toronto) 'I would recommend this music to anyone that wants a fresh sound in their soundtrack to life' (Bill Messick, NewArtistRadio.net)
