About Me

The Drowning Kittens
The Story So Far
I stare out of the window and through God's ceiling,
Ive drowned the kittens but I cant drown this feeling,
That, there's no purpose to
A purpose to this downward climb
This search for something truly mine,
It just pulls you closer to
The ground, where the truth lies cold
The sky, where the story folds......
Formed in 2004, or thereabouts, the band was originally formed as a four piece.
By 2005, there were only three.
With Eddie on bass (sometimes guitar),and vocals, Luke on guitar (sometimes bass and vocals), and Gavin on the drums, the band forges a unique sound thanks to a wide collection of musical tastes, influences and life experiences. Although this band has already been thrown into the punk pigion hole, the reality is that its sound and content owes its thanks to an entire universe of genres. Most importantly, its foundations lay in our individual interpretation of the world surrounding us. We rely only on Our senses, through which we absorb, and then regurgitate what we see, what we feel and what we know. Through music, we validate ourselves, and our purpose for being here. Through music we document what we have experienced as human beings. Ultimately, through music, we create.
The ability to do this is sacred.
Therefore, putting a tag on something you love, and building a cage around it, to me, seems vulgar. You are putting a use by date one something youll need forever.
Our music is dark. Its upbeat, its fast, and then its slow. Its angry, its content. Its full of questions and its full of answers. It follows the train tracks and it falls off the cliff. It hits the ground but it keeps falling forever. The name of the band reflects directly upon a world where innocence and purity has become an inconvenience, and is in the process of being irradiated. However, it is not something that is forced upon us. It is a path we choose to follow through lack of knowledge, short sightedness and ignorance. We are the makers of our own destiny.
We are The Drowning Kittens.
Stay cool,
Edward Niznik

Sounds Like: The Drowning Kittens mesh thoughtful lyrics with rock, punk and rockabilly inspired guitars with an energetic big-drum sound to create their own distictive version of the musical genres they love.
