About Me

My interests say a lot about me too, but in a nutshell: My primary goals are to, as my guru Hemingway was fond of saying, live life "all the way up," to keep the scene alive, to do a lot of loving, and to do a lot of rocking. I play a number of instruments, guitar being my primary mode of expression, and my band is Häus Owen. Nothing makes me happier than playing music.
I've just returned from South East Asia, and am setting off in April for the Middle East, where I'll be until summer, when I'm heading back to Europe to spend some time painting in the south of France and digging the San Fermin festival in Pamplona. After that it's grad school for a few years. A good philosophy is do what you want to and can do now. Why hold off? I expect things only get more complicated as they progress, so seize that day.
I'm political, motivated, speak mediocre French, treasure my wonderful friends, and have been known to procrastinate a bit too much for my own good form time to time.
Lastly, I'm co-founder of The Brainstorm Briefcase Project. What might that be? Well first ask yourself: what ever happened to the Renaissance man? While discussing the constant funneling of our creative energy as students toward one specific field, my colleague Kainoa Westermark and I committed to do no such thing. For, what's the point of life if you've never tried your hand at all that inspires you, never actualized your true potential. So, now that we're out of Uni, we have decided to relocate to surrounds of more inspirational nature -- Paris for instance, or London (where squatting can be legal) and let genius run wild. However, should the need arise to flee our residence it we're caught in the squat before enough time has elapsed that they are forced to let us stay, we figure we'll chuck our brainstorming papers in a briefcase and be off.

My Interests

Travel, Travel Travel!! Sorting out my life, being a Joey, The Brainstorm Briefcase Project, The Lebowski/Bukowski Renaissance Hour, patronizing Kai, Brit-speak, windtalkers, Rocking, love, headbands, witty banter, great sex, moving to Europe, doing what I do, Dragostea Din Tei and other clutch Euro clubbing songs, starting and sustaining dance parties, jelly bellies, Palestinian politics, unsullied sillieness, late night root beer floats, 4:00am freestyling, curry, drive abouts, walk abouts, digging thunderstorms, good and great views, gin and tonics with lemon, frequenting museums, futbol -- not football, using my imagination, Berenstain Bear books, not being politically correct, the Pacific ocean, reading good books, trying my hand at writing, and as always, keeping the scene alive

I'd like to meet:

David Gilmour, Justin and Dan Hawkins and The Darkness, Jimi, Odysseus, Hemingway, Monica Belucci, Oscar Wilde, and anyone who can get me a foreign policy job in Paris.

Music:

I have eclectic tastes: Pink Floyd, The Darkness, Led Zeppelin, Andy Combs, Curtis Mayfield, Stan Getz, Massive Attack, Sam Cooke, AC/DC, Queen, British Whale, Loreena McKennit, Enya, Howlin' Wolf, Ahmad Jamal, Antonio Carlos jobim, Santana, J-Live, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Haiducii, Issac Hayes, Michael Jackson -- i don't care if he touches little kids or not, he'll always be the king of pop to me, Boston, The Roots, Immortal Technique, Peter Frampton, Al Green, Duke Ellington, Hiero, Mr. Lif, FC Kahuna, Marvin Gaye, G&R, Sade, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Janis Joplin, The Boss, and of course, Jimi Hendrix... there are quite a bit more, but I'll stop there for now.

Movies:

Pulp Fiction, Ferris Behuler's Day Off, This is Spinal Tap, The Big lebowski, Les Quatre Cent Coups, Jules et Jim, Willow, Dr. Stangelove, High Fidelity, Le Pacte de Lupes, Love Actually, Last of the Mohicans, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, many Johnny Depp films, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and the first Batman... nobody does it like Michael Keaton and Tim Burton. The list could continue but...

The Picture of Dorian Gray, For Whom The Bell Tolls, East of Eden, Lord of the Rings, The Sun Also Rises, The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner City Neighborhood, The Count of Monte Cristo, Cat From Hue, On the Road, Manchild in the Promised Land, A Moveable Feast, Open All Night, Liberty and Sexuality, Rolling Stone's Encyclopedia of Rock, Encyclopedias in general, Pity the Nation, The Iron Wall, The Great Gatsby, Hardy Boys, Redwall, Berenstain Bears, Cannery Row, Le Morte d'Arthur, The Sorrow of War, and The Odyssey. There are many more, but I'll stop

Heroes:

Justin Hawkins, David Gilmour, Ernest Hemingway and myself. Justin because he writes the best music the world has seen in a long time, has a witty and wonderful sense of humor, doesn't give a shit about whether or not a few people don't get it, is all about unsullied silliness, and has the balls and sense to do what's healthiest for himself. Not to mention his voice is incredible, his guitar prowess is virtually unmatched, and The Darkness rock harder than anybody has since Zeppelin. Oh that I could play that way! David Gilmour is my hero for making the most beautiful music I've ever heard. If not for Dave, I'd not play guitar, or music at all probably. Since music defines me, I'd say that makes Dave one of the most important people to me, and defs a hero. Hemingway was his own man, and had equal passion for adventure and for love, the two most important things. Strong, and not afraid to feel emotions in their rawest forms, he never minces words, and is the epitome of confidence and masculinity. And he had a voracious appetite for life. A toast to Papa. I'm my own hero because I'm doing what I do and living my life my own way, but I look up to lots of people, my parents, my friends for various reasons, Lee for inspirado, and lots of musicians for all those musical reasons. Maybe I'll expound later.
