About Me

Sleepers Union are a four piece alternative rock band. Descibed by music journalists as driving, dancy and soulful, their present influences include Biffy Clyro, Les Savy Fav and Muse, and they resemble these bands in their shared intention to be different.Intentions are important to the Derry quartet. “The main intention we had was to make better music than we had been hearing locally. The other intention was the time honoured tradition of 'live fast die young leave a good looking corpse.' We had a short lived plan for world domination. This lasted as long as the time it took us to realise every band says that. We will settle for domination of a small village or housing estate.”The band has been going since late ’05. The drums are played by Cor who batters the skins as if his life depends on it. Sometimes it does. The guitar duties are shared by Gary and Brent. In between breaking strings and amps, things work. Migs plays bass. He also thinks he can sing, so they let him have a mic that it is never turned on. Brent sings. Occasionally he screams, grunts and moans, but mostly complains. Cor and Gary occasionally try some backing vocals. They manage to combine the menial pay of the rent jobs with spending time in a shed making the best music they possibly can. They write only original material. It is their humble opinion that there is nothing worse than a cover band, except of course, a really bad cover band.
