Jimmy and the Orange Gun

About Me

Jimmy and the Orange Gun is a band. Think Australian rock, British rock, glimpses of electronica and at times breakneck guitars of the American Seattle Movement. Think rock music delivered unpretentiously and in an accessible manor.
Adjectives are often overused when describing releases within the music industry, statements often filled with blown descriptions. The self-titled EP for Jimmy and the Orange Gun when put in real terms and removing these describing words is solid. Very solid and unique, proving individuality and actuality can coexist.
This EP still echo’s sentiments of the boy’s inception in rural New South Wales, where a straight down the line approach and delivery is often the best. It is also addresses living in the city, a series of complexities.
Things have been growing steadily and working well since making the move away from small properties outside of Wagga Wagga. The EP is being supported well by local community stations in Sydney (FBI), Melbourne (RRR), Brisbane (4ZZZ), featured Artist on JJJ Unearthed and Caroline Tran’s home and hosed program. Festival and live supports include Grinspoon, You Am I, The Mess Hall and Shihad.
The four track record was produced by cult Sydney engineer Richard Belkner (Bertie Blackman, Pivot, Triosk) and local live gigs have also shown promise,“ Thus, an odyssey of electric shock rock glimmered with a little bit of slick and a little bit of schlock and flecks of fleeting electronica chucked in.” (Faster Louder)
Now we are living in a marketing environment where genre, style, and trends have become a self forfiling prophecy. Pop has become a dirty word by the marketers that invented it. Indie has become the opposite of its meaning. It is somewhat impossible to reinvent the wheel. Cynical views I know. Sure, if you are searching for the indifferences it may not lead to the revolution but an evolution may creep slowly up behind you.
Jimmy and the Orange Gun is scouring and scratching around. Searching not for artistic fellatio, just individuality.
Enjoy the release.
