About Me

Growing up on the "urban-side" of a small city in North Carolina called Burlington later nicknamed Berlin for its division, Edgar Allen Po'etry discovered a love for music as a vehicle to express real life experiences at a young age. First gaining a major appreciation for the art form from his father's collection of Sly and the Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield, and Patti Labelle, he was later introduced to the Hip-Hop culture by albums like Paid in Full by Eric B. and Rakim, Lyte as a Rock by M.C. Lyte, and the classic Slick Ricks Great Advertures. Dancing and B-boying became a part of E.A.'s life along with basketball and later poetry.Rhyming with childhood friend Alibi E.A. would perfect his ability to freestyle. At age 16 he made his first recording with The Underworld Dynasty at D.J. Polo's studio in Greensboro N.C. Gaining respect and credibility through freestyle cyphas, and local battles by age 18 Po was established as a definite Emcee. With the normal problems of being a young black male and the struggles plaguing the aspiring artist, once basketball fell through music became the only outlet E.A. could rely on. Pouring real situations and emotions into poetic form definitely earns Edgar the right to use poetry as his name. Creating pictures involving scenes of true to life hood stories, philosphies, relationships, spirituality, hardships, as well as lifes rejoiceful moments. With cinematic wordplay, and lyricism such as "I absorb and pen it/ from a force infinite/lifes a canvas and words are a paintbrush/ of gangstas/ and the wars within it/ welcome to realities/galleries/ it's so georgous isnt it./This is where history was born in the form "his story" A.K.A. Edgar Allen Po'etry (E.A.P.).
