STONE COLD RECORDINGS

About Me

Nemisis first smacked the streets with his producer and younger brother O-Double in 2003 with their 4 song 12" The Bulletproof EP released under the artist name Nemisis & O-Double but they soon discovered the pitfulls and ills of rapping in the UK that Nemisis calls So Solid syndrome, "basically back then anykind of grimey talk of guns or knives was outlawed by the music industry, radio wouldnt play you and promoters wouldnt book you so promotion was virtually impossible because of that one song bulletproof". Originally the concept of the song was based around getting the people back that stabbed Nemisis in 2001 in his home town L-Stone (Leytonstone) East London, the hook "lets shoot em stab em kill em whatever/these mans are takin the piss", proved to hard for the UK but to Nemisis it was the reality of his life at the time. The EP was meant to be released under his own label Stonecold Recordings and distributed by Jetstar music ltd but the distributor was very reluctant to promote it after the birmingham shootings so he was left promoting it off his own back with no distribution, tracks off the EP were performed around London and as far as brighton for months but Nemisis say's "Jetstar never helped to push his records whatsoever for the duration of the 3 year distribution and publishing agreement so halfway into the contract Nemisis decided to put all future releases on hold until the contract run its course he then went in to the studio to record a mixtape.Summer 2005 saw the Rhymewatch UK mixtape hit the streets, the mixtape was mainly a promotional CD for Nemisis and his latest signings on his Stonecold Recordings label to spit anything they liked in its purest form over known beats and a few O-Double exclusive produced tracks, Nemisis regularly performed his exclusive track "Stand up tall" around the London Club scene and the limited amount of 3000 CD's sold rapidly. After the mixtape Nemisis continued recording and started to compile two solo albums, one would be material recorded over the past 3 years and the other would be all present and future recordings over the next six months, now for most artists doing two albums at the same time would not be easy but for a rapper who practicly lives in the studio Its effortless because music is his daily grind. It was once said by staff at Jetstar that Nemisis was simply to ahead of his time making the kind of music in 2003 that we are now hearing coming out from the UK in 2006 bearing that in mind his first album he just finished called Grey City contains material recorded 2003 to 2006 it's an official mixtape album produced by O-Double and features Stonecold's artists Rowdy T and songstress Bonita to name a few over hip hop and grime tracks, the CD is currently in the hands of your local shop and bootleggers and has sold nearly 1500 in a couple of weeks with no distributor but he is still unhappy struggling to get deep in the game and receive regular airplay so he is still pushing Grey City and putting the finishing touches on his debut album due for release at the end of 2006 the album is described by Nemisis as "my masterpiece" produced by O-Double it features Birminghams Amnesia, Infanatty, Rowdy T and Bonita on vocals it takes you on a journey through the mind of Nemisis who touches on subjects about Londons crack problem, Leytonstones prostitution problem, he also tells the story of being stabbed and talks about relationship problems on a social level, his flow is loud and in ya face, he is sincere often saying things most would be scared to rap about, he is a songwriter as well as an astonishing MC, he raps on point everytime and tells his dark street tales in so much detail its like your there with him, his music is grown up enough for your parents to listen to but retains street credibility and enough rebelliousness for the youths of our Cities.2006 looks promising for the rising movement that is Nemisis and Stonecold Recordings, watch out!
